This project uses Gas sampling modules to detect Ethanol/Alcohol/Hydrogen/Smoke/carbon monoxide/Liquid propane gas (LPG).
the sensors gives out an analogue signal proportional (well not sooo proportional) to the gas concentration.

Virtual InMoov gets "Potted" by Prop & Atmel Mega

It was quite a work to "Rigg" the file of InMoov that Gael sent me.... Its feasible, and the speed is good.

So far I have only automated the fingers , arm, and shoulder joint.

...and now that I can understand the mechanisms .... next job is to add some bones to make pose_ing easier (in the blender environment).

The Potentiometers work well with Blender via a Parallax Propeller comm link.....

Parents & Children = Virtual Robot Arm

Have Just configured 4 Potentiometers to contol my Blender Virtual Robot Arm.. Using a Propeller to TX four Analogs over a Serial link. Using Python code to control the actuators.

Each arm part is parented to next in the chain , meaning that they are all connected as one limb however able to turn on its parents axis.

Qonix - Lipo Blue smoked

Thought I would just document this as a warning to others who want to replace Lipos in consumer products.

All is not what it seems........

For a while now my Cheapish Qonix Portable DVD players battery was not lasting a whole Film.

So I looked inside and found a 2cell Lipo battery within...

I bought an equivalent 2 cell and proceeded to plug it in.......

I have been searching for some conductive ink for some projects for some time now, its not so easy to get and very expensive.

I have been following :- Robert Murray Smith he is a prolific designer .... of all sorts....

Luckily for me he is currently working on a series of Graphene based products - one of which is conductive ink (just what G needs)

My S2 Neo Pixel Leds  thanks for the work with the NeoPixel code from Duane.... keep up the good work ;-)

Parallax Scribbler (S2) Robot - Ultra Violet Laser & XBee & LOGO (Part 2 of 5)

This is the second in a series of 5 Videos going from basic to advanced hacking of the S2 robot.

This second modification uses an UltraViolet Laser (the one I use can be focused for really thin line details)

Propeller S2 Ultra Violet 1 of 5

Parallax Scribbler (S2) Robot - Hacked with Ultra Violet

This is the 1st in a series of 5 Videos going from basic to advanced UltraViolet hacking of the S2 robot. ( This video also gives a short overview of what to expect in following videos )

This first version uses a simple UltraViolet Pen , the type used to detect forged bank notes. ( all my Swiss bank notes check out..... if you know what i mean ;-)

The UV pen simply fits into the pen slot of the S2 and i have used one of the already built-in programs to draw a figure "8"

28BYJ-48 Stepper pushes 2.8Kgs

As part of a 3D printed actuator , i have been sourcing parts for the drive motor...

Per-chance a 28BYJ-48 stepper motor shouted off the shelf .......

A few "Blender" iterations later ... a wormscrew and wormscrew nut were printed.

Hot off the press testing , just by holding the motor and nut secure ... i drove the stepper until it stopped.

As you see below it easily exerts a press force circa 2.3Kgs  .. the stepper locked itself at 2.8Kgs.

This force is being held on just two rows of thread - so good proof of PLA plastic stability.

Breaking Point (100% YAY)

Three part encapsulated "Blind" single print 3.5 cm  Linear Actuator ....destined for a 9g servo.

Will it break where i want it to .... in theory it will but practice will tell.....  stay tuned........

Inner Blue is the destructive part which will separate the slider in the tube.......

Endless hours of correcting  manifold  errors...double /triple vertex errors ... overhangs ...  etcetc...

One Egg Grip Closer

Here is a manual test for piece of mind .... still have to design last part for my linear servo mod.

Please note :- Picture is side ways...and yes it does grip the weight of an egg without slippage.

Thought i would catalog these here as a first for LMR (4:11:2013)...... (before any other maker feels the siberian wind)

These are the first members to be added to my family of Matryoshka dolls .

I designed them with "Blender" and 3D printed on my "Ultimaker" at 0.2mm Zaxis step. (so room for more Vodka)

The Making of a Robot including Mcu for less than $20

This project was devised to show how easily it is to make a robot on limited funds.
It is a good "Starting Off" Robotic base as it can be easily changed and transformed.
This is just the start of the project and there are many additions planned for it.

Hakko (compatible-affordable) Digital controlled soldering station

Due to recent  intense smd soldring work, my 25watt antex soldering iron was begining to show its limitations......

... so out with the old and in with a new Hakko 907 (compatible) soldering system.

Truth is i found the temperature controller first .... which was a godsend because the current stye of hakko enclosure did not "Grab" me.....

...... Creating my Custom Box is too awsome to even think about :-)

First Test piece is "in the box" ... one of many.... (edit ....estimated 18)

...however the remaining Questions are :-

  1. What is G up too   ?
  2. What material is G using  ?
  3. How will it be deployed   ?
  4. Is it going to be worth all the work ?

Surrogate Robotic Mother

Breaking News :-
Propaxxo (surrogate mother) was rushed into the Labour Suite last weekend.

How far would you trust your robot...

Idea :-Damage control ...... take the control off the operator if it exceeds the design limits of the robot - robot makes necessary actions to get out of danger and only then hand control back to manual operator control.

Not bad for a single set of  fixed Infra Red sharps .... positioned to detect Cliff and Obstacles......tuning needed though.

In the second video it fails only because it was over-correcting the correction and exposing its back to the cliff ....... to solve this i programmed faster but shorter turn corrections.
