Morgan 3D printer adventure!

Thanks to Ossipee and his jedi mind tricks I have started working on another RepRap. My first RepRap was a Rostock which was on the cutting edge at the time and now I'm building another rather immature model. I have Ossipee to thank for the ongoing Rostock adventure as well!

Since the Morgan is so new, documentation is still in a state of flux with quite a few people documenting various virtual and real-world builds. While this is good it also has a way of muddying the already murky RepRap waters...

"Do not average your Max-Sonar results..ever!" who knew?

I've apparently been mistreating my MaxSonar EZ-1.   I can't find where i stole.. er... borrowed my idea from for averaging a series of responses to reduce the inconsistencies, but I was looking up some information on the Arduino pulseIN() timeout (Thanks Oddbot!) and came across http://playground.arduino.cc/Main/MaxSonar   ... Yeah... I know it should have been one of my first places to look, but...

Hello all!

This is D. Jay Newman, also known as Dangerous Thing (as in "A little learning is a dangerous thing.")

I built several robots in from the late 1990's through the early 2000's. I had several articles and one book, Linux Robotics, published. Then my wife became extremely sick and I had to quit work to become her full-time caregiver. I was also forced to quit working on robots. Lately I realized I had to build things again or not be true to myself.

I've begun working on the troupe: Groucho, Harpo, Zeppo, and eventually Chico.

Maple Mini ebay clone

I was looking at eBay one night and saw a Maple Mini clone. It was under $5 so I took a chance. For any that don't know, the Maple boards are Arduino like uC's designed by Leaf Labs. They make ARM Cortex controller boards. This little board has the following short list specs:

Are we too many in here, should we start limiting acess?

Hi everyone :)

Are we too many in here, should we start limiting acess?

I have had the same thoughts before; at a point I felt like we where so many in here, that it was impossible to follow everything & everyone..

It sure is now.

Last time I did & said nothing, and it turned out to be the right solution; So many cool people dropped in, people I would never have known else. I am thankful I did not limit acess then.

LV-MaxSonar Sensor Questions

Hello,

This is my first post here at LMR. I decided to write out a question in the format of a blog. Since I've had some trouble getting my head around this issue and I found limited resources regarding this special device on the Internet. Creating a blog post might help other people with similar questions as me.

Slip Ring

To support my idea for building a 360 degree range finder, I want to build my own slip ring assembly.

I'm thinking of using a copper clad board to create concentric rings. I found a manufacturer that uses this technique. I posted a picture from them below.

A new sexy mobile phone...

Kari and I have been with Verizon for almost 10 years now and during that time, every 2 years, we get a new, free, nifty phone when we re-up our contract. Now, each and every time I am truly amazed how much cooler my new phone is and how much my old one sucked. Once again, this has happened. I just got a new Envy touch and well... MAN! I mean, really --holy crap!

What you will find below is FROM A FRIGGIN' CELL PHONE!! (It has a macro function!)

Can you believe the quality?!?!

It's 4AM: Arduino SHR Coded but not built

I've been planning an Arduino version of the Start Here robot. Today most of my parts arrived from SparkFun. This bot will be based on Ro-Bot-X's Arduino Shield for building robots.

3D Printing

Found this online and thought it may be of interest to people on here.

http://www.fabathome.com/

It's a 3D printer you can build yourself. It's a bit beyond my building capacity, but I'll bet there's people on here that can build one.

cr4cx - Security robot/Telepresence

cr4cx should be an autonomous home security bot.
It must also work as a telepresence/mobile camera and mobile media player.

Got $1299,- to spare?

Then I would recomend that you have a look at the MakerBot Thing-O-Matic 3D printer http://www.makerbot.com/

With my 50 birthday coming up, my family chipped in and got me one of those fabulous machines. And I must admit that I’m totally blown away by the quality of the print and the robustness of the ABS plastic parts that is printed.

3 new projects

I have started 3 new projects. I mainly wanted to use the laser cutter at school before the school year was over. So I made these things which I will be fully constructing in the upcoming weeks. I just threw stuff together for some photos.
