ATTiny programmer shield

I got some ATTiny and now need to transfer the program from the Arduino IDE to the ATTiny without a programmer.

The solution is, just make your own programmer shield. Based on this tutorial http://hlt.media.mit.edu/?p=1229 I created my programmer shield for the Arduino Duemilanove. It's not pretty since it's just a ugly board out of my box but it works. Preparing the Arduino duemilanove according to this tutorial and then hook up the ATTiny into the header pin socket, open your sketch and click upload. Done!!!

Mind the Raspberry Pi power usage

The RaspberryPi is a powerfull little gadget that can add a lot of good features to your robot. For under $60, including cables, dongle and SD-card, you get a lot of processing power, data storage, wifi and audio. So I ordered a RaspberryPi to be used as the brain for my R2D2 project.

Toys for kids with disabilities

Hex Caster

Hex Caster is my attempt to come up with some play on the word "hex".

I plan to use this PCB with both my hexapod projects.

Do.. Document your Robot!

It is about a year ago I made a robot called "Skiwalker".

It's parts are used for other robots, and I would have forgotten all about it, if not every now and then when I logged in, someone wrote to me; "Hey, that is a nice walkthrough, cool, helped me, inspired me" etc..

That is so NICE! It often makes my day, to get that kind of feedback without warning for a long forgotten thing I did.

And all I did at the time was to remember to film / take pictures.

 This came out as a sub project related to my DIY CNC machine "the Beast"  because the outputs of the Arduino would not suffice to control the motors. So I chose to use I2C for this purpose and designed my own little guy.

RepRap Conversion for a set of Probotix SideStep Stepper Motor Drivers

Abstract

An Arduino or similar microcontroller shall be used to create a RepRap-style front-end for the HobbyCNC EZ Driver board or similar DB-25 controlled stepper driver.  This front-end microcontroller application would allow RepRap applications to control a number of powerful CNC machines.

Binary Clock Parts

Hey guys, I was thinking of making a binary clock. I don't want this to end up being the typical Dent work- I want this to be good looking and long lasting. It's going to be hung up on one of our walls, so I must be very precise.

Right now, I'm trying to find the right parts. I'll be spending my parent's money after all, so I want this to stay cheap (but still look good!) and I wanna get all the right parts the first time around.

Canadian National Robotic Games 2010

Hello all,

I had a great time in Toronto for this years Robot games.  I managed to get 2nd place in the masters mini sumo competition with Blaster shark.  I made a new robot called Driller shark which I will post shortly in the robot section.  It didn't do that well, but all in all I had fun.  Here are the pictures.

H-Bridge Variation --Full Disconnect using Relay or Extra Transistors

This is a continuation or update of the earlier page on making an H-Bridge for motor control without allowing a full short of the power supply under certain conditions as with other H-Bridge drawings I see all over the web.

The original 4-transistor design was bread-boarded and tests showed it worked as planned.

 

The following designs have not been bread-boarded (as yet), but I believe they should also work as designed. (See truth table on second drawing.)
