Ok folks, we are in Berlin and setting up our domain. After a bit hassle with the registration and the tent we finally got everything settled.

We still need a bit organisation miracle to setup the big banner (thanks OddBot) and te live video stream but I guess we will get this done by tomorrow noon.

A whole airport terminal full of nerds, can you imagine that? Please keep in touch to learn more about the CP in Berlin.

Rocket Brand Studios/ CtC Update 1.14.12

Well, RBS had a pretty darn-good December and it seems the Tadpoles are exactly what folks have been looking for. I decided to take the move to the new house as an oppertunity to go through the whole shop, tune-up, square-up, shapen and/or lube just about everything I own. I did a good tear-down/rebuild of the CNC and I even built a whole sound-proof room just for milling.

Yup, RBS is growing faster by the day. 2013 is already shaping up to be a good one.

Updated preview of new re-configurable, all metal tank chassis

Update: Just did a motor test using a fully charged 3S LiPo. These motor / gearbox combos are very powerful and will need a Wild Thumper controller to handle the peak current.

No load current: 0.6A
Nominal load current: 3A
Stall current: 11A+ 

This is definitely going to be the tank version of Wild Thumper!

BoB the Biped and Me: We celebrate the Seahawks! (updated)

Just a place to put a link to the video of BoB dancing while I applaud. I'll update with more info in the future. Gotta meet my buddy at the pub in a few minutes, hence the brevity.

There are four total dance moves, I think the video only caught three of them (they're randomized).

- Low power node (using an atmega chip)

- Measures: temperature, humidity, luminosity, soil moisture

- Reports it back to a central node (via nRF24L01+ modules) at specified time intervals

The darn H-bridge

I just want to be able to reverse a current. How hard can it be?

I just want to be able to decide direction of the motor to my pic, why does it have to be so complicated?

Mini Sumo Bot Parts!

Intro

I decided to make a mini sumo robot a few weeks ago instead of doing an obstacle avoider. Turns out that once you think about it, mini sumo bots and obstacle avoiders are pretty much the same! The only changes I would need to make would be to the code. Great! Sumos can also double as line followers. So in short, they're pretty versatile. Here is an image of most of the parts that will go into this sucker.

Acroban robot

Wow! I just came across this recent work from a research lab in France. As you can see in the video, the robot moves a bit like a child -- it's pretty cute.

Their robot has structural stability due in large part to their use of *drumroll* rubber bands! I like that their components are cheap and off-the-shelf. It would be cool to try and reverse engineer it... or I guess we could just ask them for the schematics... hmm...

Of course, some people still find it creepy. One girl told me it was as scary as puppets.

Wii Camera and Easy PCB Etch How-To

Well, I got sick of having a lappy as a middle-man between my wiimote and my robot (via bluetooth). I decided to remove the camera itself and go with on-board i2c instead of sending BT data back and forth. Now, I have seen a lot of great "adapters" to go from the fine pitch of the wiicamera pins to "standard" pin spacing, but I need not only to adapt the pins, but also a good way to mount the device to the pan and tilt mechanism I have on Walter. I decided to etch a PCB for the task using, I think, the easiest PCB etching process around. Period.

Gareths Elvish Propeller Mini Computer Framework.....

I needed disparately a mini platform for development - the propeller can be easily set up to read ps2 keyboard/mouse and output a composite video signal, plus sound and if i play my cards right a usb bridge interface for my phone.

All i have basically done is sit the propeller usb board into an ic socket and soldered 2 IDE diskdrive sockets either side - allowing me to use the system like a breadboard for experimentation. On the back i have wired in sockets for mouse and keyboard.

My Wii-camera will just plug into the ide socket....... oh this is going to be soooo magic..

DAGU product support - Manuals

G'day everyone,

I have been designing products for DAGU for over 2 years now and have always tried to provide product support here on LMR. One problem I have had is that sometimes the manuals are too big to upload.

If you have any problems with these kits then you should ask questions in the component section. I answer questions there so that others with similar problems can look for answers.

Home made tracks + brushless motor

This 40A brushless motor kinda surprise me that they really works. Well, for now at least. I don't know if they works with 2 belt in different directions. Gotta go get 9 teeth sprocket for another motor.

The reason why I use brushless motor is because the controller is way cheaper than those high power brushed motor speed controller(50A+). Could anyone tell me why they are so fxxking expensive? like $400~$800 USD??
