Matt Richardson of MAKE Magazine posted this video on how to flash an 8-pin micro with Arduino code. It is based on work done by the MIT High-Low Tech lab.

If you like using the Picaxe 08m for small project, but would prefer to stay Arduino compatible, this may be a good approach for you.

A robotics researcher I know through Twitter forwarded this link to me and asked if anyone on LMR had worked with electromyography (EMG) for controlling robots. This looks pretty interesting and seems approachable for a hobby robotics budget and complexity. 

The website shows videos of EMG control over motors and servos.

Standofrd is releasing 10 free online courses in CS and robotics. I haven't seen them yet, so I don't know the quality.

This site is Russian-speaking users. There you will find a lot of schemes BEAM robots with detailed descriptions, pictures, and much more. These guys have a lot of really useful items.  Too much stuff to list here.  A lot of it is surplus, so it's pretty cheap.

They have a lot of stuff.  A lot of good tools, prototyping stuff, and power supplies for bench testing things before they go on your robot.

I found this tutorial very educational in understanding how the LaunchPad and microcontrollers in general work down at the bit, byte and register level.
