I was wondering, how did you made those extensions [probably not right terminology, the one that used to adjust the body shape] .. ? are they some kind of hydraulic cylinders ? are they made from scratch or an off-the-shelf product?

The cylinders you are referring to were custom-made electrical linear actuators. I used 20W DC-motors with a 100:1 epicyclic gearbox and I attached a 1:1 custom-made lateral extension gearbox in order to offset the output shaft. I then attached an M10 thread and an aluminium threaded cylinder. Idea is pretty similar to my post: http://letsmakerobots.com/node/14679, where I do pretty much the same thing on a hobby servo.
