Let's Make Robots!

Robots Community and Tutorials www.botstop.net

Hello every at Lets Make Robots, Happy Birthday.

I would like to make you aware of a website I am starting up, BotStop.NET. You can upload your robot to have it reviewed by others in the robotics community, read and make suggestions towards robotics tutorials, take part in competitions to win parts and components for your creations, or chat in the forums.

I would very much appreciate it if you could take a look, see what you think, maybe sign up and try our some of the features. If you find any problems or want to suggest anything to add or change, pop into the forums and post a request there.

It is at www.botstop.net

Many Thanks,
BotStop.NET

Without diversity we wouldn't have sparkfun and solarbotics, and hwtech and arin, and etc....

Hello Users,

Yes the site is similar to your own. However these sites have to start from somewhere. This site is a great site with lots of resources, however I have my own take on that. If you dont want to be a part of this site thats no problem, i'm not spamming your site with it, just a simple message for you to take a look at!

If you dont want this on your forum you're welcome to delete the thread.

Edit: The components section was taken from microchip manufacturers search pages which allow you to easily filter the data.

Cheers,
BotStop.NET

No worries man, I'm all for having a different take on things! I also don't consider your post spam. My earlier comment using the word "copycat" was probably a bit harsh, my apologies for that.

Regarding components, my smack talking was not aimed at BotStop but the other guy.The other one just rubbed me the wrong way from the get-go.

Arh, comon, flame the copycat a little, pirate :D

PS: Anyone interested in joining in on the development of THIS site are very welcome.

And any copycats can have our sourcecode as far as I am concerned. Cause we have one thing that you can never copy! Love! yer!

Or something :D

Ah, I'm in a much better mood than I was yesterday when I was cranky about one of our more feckless members. Yesterday I was on the verge of running out of rum, that has now been remedied ;)

he has posted a blurb about his new site at our facebook group as well...

What was the other copycat?

He also hit robocommunity.

Other one is the rebirth of the former Robot Directory (.org) called Robot Box (.net). If you were signed up for the old Robot Directory you got an "invite" to beta (dot) Robot Box. The beta is built around Drupal, with Robot Projects, and a Parts section to reference the parts used in the Project (sound familiar?). It does have a different layout, but the Parts section feels a lot like how I've been describing my plans for Components since I came on board...

How excactly does it differ from this site?

You can "upload your robot, to have it reviewed by others in the robotics community, read and make suggestions towards robotics tutorials, take part in competitions to win parts and components for your creations, or chat in the forums" here as well...

Bingo ;)

This is the 2nd copycat in a month that I've heard of... We must be doing something right around here! Just remember what they say about imitation and flattery.
