Let's Make Robots!

Hexapod clone (my first bot)

Walk while trying not to hit any objects
Cost to build:
$80
Time to build:
4 hours

This is my first real attempt at robotics.
I do have my own bot design in mind, but i decided i should start with something small.
I'm really a learn-by-example kinda guy so i bought all the components required to build a clone of
this hexapod.

Took me about 4 hours to build.
I didnt build it exactly as the original builder did, because i wanted to have the option to re-use all parts for future projects.
So instead of soldering everything directly to the PCB i used jumper wires.
Instead of paperclips i used some thick electric wire for the legs.
The servos are HD-1440A micro servos.
The whole structure is kept together with hot glue.

It does not walk perfectly yet, still needs a little programming to make it walk in the right direction when it hits an object, but i consider it done :)

Good job!  That looks really cleanly done.  I was glad to see an example of this being done with the non-kit version of the Maestro.  Do you mind if I post your robot's picture and a link on the original project page?  Thanks, -Paul

I would love that, Paul! :)

You picture is up now, thanks!

By the way, recycling parts is the reason I never have more than one working robot at a time, and usually not even one!

Cool!!! Haha, I love the way it backs off :))) Nice work!
