Hi,

I just wanted to let everyone know about my e-book. It's called "How To Build Radio Control Robot Beetles".

It's an ideal start for beginners as all you need is a radio control set and a few inexpensive parts.

You don't need to know how to program or solder anything !

I guess it's like the computer definition, a computer doesn't necessarily have to be a machine, get a dude to sit at a desk doing maths(computing) and you'll call him the computer, because he computes(calculates).

There are several good definitions of what a robot is, some state autonomous, others don't.

I think that here on LETS MAKE ROBOTS, we should agree that if

(1) you are a LMR member, and
(2) you've made it, and
(3) you call it a robot; then
= it's a robot.

I doubt anyone is trying to insult anyone. I guess it would be nice to have a clear definition of what a robot actually is.

For the sake of discussion, this is what wikipedia says :

"A robot is an automatically guided machine which is able to do tasks on its own, almost always due to electronically-programmed instructions." 

So i am with OddBot on this one :)

We have had this argument before on this site. Basically if it is radio controlled then you are insulting all us hobbyist who build actual robots. Perhaps you should be more honest and call your book - "How To Build Radio Control Model Beetles".

I'm not insulting anyone intentionally. Does the army call their bomb disposal robots, bomb disposal models? no.

And hey, if imahara (mythbusters) can call anything that moves a robot so can I. LOL

If you add a picaxe controller to my robots, as I have done before, then you have an actual robot.
