thinking of Buy on of those

Im thinking of buying on of those https://estore.ti.com/eZ430-Chronos-433-eZ430-Chronos-Wireless-Watch-Development-Tool-P1734.aspx

as i said on the topic's title.

Have anyone here tested it?

is it ok for a regular watch ?

I just want to buy it because it could be a simple watch and a great developent platform too  with the help of a another microcontroller.

What do you think?

It worths to be bought?

It seems that this is a highly integrated, wireless development system based for the CC430 in a sports watch. It may be used as a reference platform for watch systems, a personal display for personal area networks, or as a wireless sensor node for remote data collection.

If this sounds like what you need I would say yes, buy it. If not, I would not buy it.

Allow me to be a little more precise:

Based on the CC430F6137 <1 GHz RF SoC, the eZ430-Chronos is a complete CC430-based development system contained in a watch. This tool features a 96 segment LCD display and provides an integrated pressure sensor and 3-axis accelerometer for motion sensitive control. The integrated wireless feature allows the Chronos to act as a central hub for nearby wireless sensors such as pedometers and heart rate monitors. The eZ430-Chronos offers temperature and battery voltage measurement and is complete with a USB-based CC1111 wireless interface to a PC.

The eZ430-Chronos watch may be disassembled to be reprogrammed with a custom application and includes an eZ430 USB programming interface.

What's Included:

  • eZ430-Chronos wireless watch
  • eZ430 USB programming and debugging interface
  • CC1111 USB RF access point
  • Mini Phillips screwdriver
  • CD containing documentation and development software

So if this is what you want, and you think the price is right, then it sounds as if it is a good thing to buy. If not, you should not buy it.

Can the eZ430-Chronos watch be disassembled and reprogrammed with a custom application? And does it include an eZ430 USB programming interface?

I need to know this if I want to make a decision on if I should buy or not.

Oh, I know this one.

The answer is "no".

I know, it may come as a surprise, if you read the online describtion. But you should never trust them.

I think if you disassemle it comes with an adaptor and you can connect it to your pc and programm it with a piece of

software called  IAR.

Well i saw thi one and i was quite impressed

http://chemicaloliver.net/arduino/controlling-lights-with-ti-ez430-chronos-home-easy-arduino-and-processing/ .

The idea of controlling different apliances or my whole house through a watch passed my mind  .

I need a watch too because my old one broke up .And i said why not buy a watch that can do more  things than a simple watch .

I have one...haven't played with it much but its pretty nice. You can reprogram it and the wireless programmer will program any 430 chip if I understand correctly. I use it as a remote for Powerpoint which is pretty nifty if you ask me. Not a bad looking watch either...I suppose I should play with it a bit more...

My Chronos kit finally arrived a few weeks back, and although I've been away a lot I've had time to do a little programming with it.
I added an extra mode to the standard menu called "drums", which allows the accelerometer to trigger simple drum FX when you play air drums while wearing it.
Not exactly the most clever use of all the nice peripherals, but I'll play with it more later this year =)
