12 servo power supply

i am building this hexapod : http://letsmakerobots.com/node/29821 , and i have few question about the power supply. For testing the servos i was using 4 AA but now with 12 servo i want to use bigger capacity battery for example a lipo. Can i run the servo directly from it or i need to regulate down to 6v?

Many servos are available that can run on 7.2V so that no regulator is required. Otherwise just add a couple of high current diodes in series. Each diode drops about 0.7V under a heavy load. I did that with Chopsticks.

There are 2 way s to regulate a LiPo to 6V. Either use a switching power supply like this one: http://www.dimensionengineering.com/DE-SWADJ3.htm

or you can use a uBEC (micro Battery Eliminator Circuit) like this one: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__6233__TURNIGY_8_15A_UBEC_for_Lipoly.html

Thank you i will use the ubec.
