Smiley.................................

"Smiley" ..... with Parallax Propellor.

Slap a UV laser onto a pan-tilt servo mechanism and blast a 50cm x 50cm sheet of florescent vinyl with it ........

Propeller chip picks up preformed Graphic data matrix from data table........

.... now i am looking for some "Fonts" made in this same way.........Anyone have any ideas?

EDIT:- "See your design in Glow Light"

Just struck me .......why not design your own graphic ... as above (Circa square 16x16)  and post below and i will do my best to video the result ;-)

Try this if you can! Can't wait...! ;)

Thanks for your entry into the Hall of LMR Glow Fame ..... consider yourself  "Glowyfied"

Your picture is very festive....btw

Thnx so much for this! And yes, I am now, "Glowyfied".

Hehe,

that's not a byte (8 bits), it's an integer (16 bits or 2 bytes).

But it looks cool never the less!

Amazing work Gareth, as usual!!!

ah yes the propeller has some strange commands.....Byte meaning 1 or 2 or 3 or 1000+ instances of 1:byte ...strange but true and of course its necessary to stick in some """"""" not forgetting the ,0 to stop the propeller reading ad infinitum.

The truth is at the moment is i have no clue how many bits i can squeeze out of it....

As its strapped to a servo giving just 45° sweep at the moment........ so room for experimentation......

Slap that laser into high gear and get some basic animation going!!

P.S. where the hell do you get a sheet of florescent vinyl??? CERN's local hardware store?

To answer your question ..... the sheet of "glow" sticky backed Vinyl comes from KilaBitzzz (highly recommended) .... they sent me a heap of other samples too which i will leak into some more bloggs shortly.

In Luzern they have "Technorama" a science exhibition centre ..... and one installation is a room completely covered in this "Glow" vinyl and every minute there is a countdown and a humungous flash of light from a high power XENON lamp .... and yes if you jump in the air at the right time you are frozen in time (well till the next minute) onto the walls ...

Animation is close to what i want to achieve.... Original idea was to use it to pick up "slow scan TV/pictures" (aka moon landing slowscan style) (not so easy to get a slow scan oscilloscope these days ) and decode it to to the glow vinyl. decoding the tones should be in easy reach of the propeller/atmel chips.

So yes i reckon animations will emerge.....

That is just plain awesome... no its way more than that! Specially like that it has fading effect. If you play this a bit fast it has a computer screen effect. O_O --_-- O_O   :)

I have to say the Glow impulse decay effect from the sheet is pretty mesmerizing.....

Both you and OB1 are on the right tracks with the direction i wish to take it........
