Desoldering tool

Help desoldring

Just a quick tip for desoldering components. Usually it’s hard to use regular pliers to hold on to a wire and find the right spot on the other side of the board at the same time.  Then get at pair of Kelly forceps as you can lock them on the wire / pin and just concentrate on heating the right pad.
Get something like these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kelly-STRAIGHT-Hemostatic-Medical-Equipment-Forceps-5-5-/150725977190?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2317f7e466

You have to love this idea! I can't believe I never thought of it before... I use my hemostats to keep my finger tips from getting burnt too. ;) Oh by the way, you can also pick up a pair of these from the drawer in the doctors office while you are waiting on him... hehe just kidding.

you can also get these in fishing stores. popular among flyfishers.

I really always have this problem, and I really would like to see a video of this - what is it that you do, excactly?

I don’t know if a video is needed, but this tool clamp on to the pin or component so you don’t need to keep tension on the plier itself. It’s dead easy to use.
As you see from the picture it’s locked onto a regular pin and gives me a good grip to pull it out when the solder is heated.
