Sensors Your Robot Will Love You For Adding
(Yes it's an old picture, but) as you see, we have our tools ready to work on robots.
This is just a miscellany of sensors your robot can use from time to time.
Not all these ideas were mine, but they are useful and need to be put up for all roboticists to use as needed.
**Click the pictures to see a larger image.**
Below is a sample circuit you could use with the pressure roller to tell if something is slipping from the robot's grip.
If it slips, release pressure, lower the gripper to the original position and reclamp the grip with slightly higher pressure and try lifting the object again. Repeat this until the object does not slip (causing the wheel to rotate).
And below is a sample robot schematic showing several sensors being used.
Remember that you can incorporate more than one sensor at a time to get different effects. For instance, I did not draw it, but you could use the Slip Sensor as one "finger" or "claw" on your robot gripper, and then add the Pressure Sensor under it, so it does double duty of checking if the object is slipping and at the same time tell how much pressure is being applied.
I hope some of these ideas prove useful.

Ouff... what a picture. But
Ouff... what a picture. But I like the simple pressure detector. Collected!

Hmm, I had to change my avatar once because you could see the very top of my shoulders thus indicating I was not wearing a shirt (it was the middle of summer). This was by the same person who does not want to block swearing on the site.
I can only imagine what Frits will say about your picture.
After seeing this picture I wish I had a few less sensors right now :P

I do understand that
I do understand that different people have different sensibilities according to what they are used to. (The closer the poles, the less skin they are used to seeing, and the closer the equator the less clothing. That picture was taken in a rather warm climate.)
So anyway, if there is a question about it, I can switch the picture to a different one. Not a big deal... I have one somewhere of me holding a shotgun... I might use that.
(Another good robot tool. -ha ha)

Really?
Seems so out of character for Frits... the guy who posts male genitalia on a regular basis to the shout-box..
Maybe he didn't like your picture because it was'nt revealing enough...
Nice post Dan. You have some great ideas with details, always a pleasure.
The picture doesn't make me think of robots, but more of a liberated Pirate boarding party during the 1970's.. whatever...

Gee....Dan you are funny.
Gee....Dan you are funny. What robot do you want to fix with that giant sword? I only can think about to fight down a heavy duty combat bot with it.
Your tips are good and collected...i might need one or two ideas of yours later.

Aye, when I was young there used to be a comic book about a future world and some guy who fought robots that were trying to control everything. I do not remember the name of the comic, though.
