Let's Make Robots!

Campus Party Berlin 2012 LMR division

This is fantastic, and NOT a (bad) joke, and it's not spam - free as in free beer. It is an amazing chance brought to you because you are LMR: (Ask Dutchbot, rik, fritsl, Anton, Tinhead.. any of the guys who went last time if it was not the coolest thing EVER (and this time it is 4 times as big))

If you are an LMR member, and in Europe on 21st -> 26th of August 2012, this can be all free for you - yep, paid for, just sign up, tell us what you are planning to bring and have fun:

  • Campus Party will set up a tent (possibly indoor) for you. (Bring sleeping bag, details to come)
  • LMR is working together with Campus Party in order to arrange special LMR Nights at the event!
  • Meet friends, bring robots, heck bring soldering iron, make a robot on the spot!
  • Hear famous people and speakers
  • See more tech and future stuff than you have ever seen before

Stay tuned at http://www.campus-party.eu/2012/index.html and do not hesitate to contact our friend, Angel (angel.hernandez@campus-party.org or @mifulapirus) the Robotics Advisor at Campus Party if you have any questions about the event.

It'll be a memory for life, if it's just half as cool as last time!!

This is what we have arranged, this is how you sign up:

1) Officially sign up to this contest: http://www.campus-party.eu/2012/invitations-program.html (You just have to do the tweet, that makes you participate in the official contest, you do not need to sign up on the page. For geo-setup of Twitter, this might help you, read carefully it's all there ;)  http://support.twitter.com/articles/122236#) - Here is Frits's tweet, as an example:

2) Just after entering the contest, submit this form ;)

We will get back to you ;)

Q's & A's;

  • Should you be European citizen to participate? Please read carefully what is written above - it is not a random wording. (Your passport will not be checked ;)
  • What if you already talked to us, wrote Fritsl a mail about this? Then you should still sign up as written above!

Click on the sign below for more info on the event itself :) The deal is; The people arranging that need many nerds, and we are the largest bunch, so we help each other out this way - they make an LMR event out of it ;)

If your tweets aren't showing up on the map and you haven't gotten a confirmation via twitter that it has been recieved it's a geolocation error.

There are two things you can do: try sending your tweet from a mobile device with the geolocation option on (it's more accurate than the online option) OR email me at deniz [a] campus-party.org with your twitter profile and where you're tweeting from and I'll send it on to have them added manually to the map!

Thanks fritsl. Just mailed to Angel about twetter issues on several LMR members (including me).

Hope Angel inform to CP (and bring his TupperBot to Berlin xD)

Since I'm a university student and my university is participating I can be safer that I can get a ride, right?

Any news? I got the email with the reminder for applying the free tickets.

Anyway, I just want to know how it's gong from now. I did not get an email wth more details yet. I know I am impatient but like to start planning everything (workshop, material, tools)

@DG: I am sure you can answer me and all the LMR memebers some questions.

How we can imagine the location. Is there 220V power for Laptops, soldering irons power units etc. Since I want to do some workshops there I would need to power up some soldering irons, laptop etc.

Do we have Wi-Fi available for an internet connection? How is the bandwidht? is is good enough for live streaming of video, so that we can install a webcam and let the fellow LMRians at home see what we are doing?

Because I live in Berlin, I can provide the most important tools. Not everyone needs to bring its complete set of tools.

That's great RobotFreak. Lets talk about that later when I need to plan what to pack ;-)

I would like to save some weight on tools so I can bring more toys ;-)

@lumi the center of the arena resembles a LAN party with long tables, ethernet hookups and 220V power for computers. However, we will not have soldering iron power units on site unfortunatly. Anything specific we ask you bring yourselves.

We will have WiFi, but as you can imagine providing strong coverage for 10,000 people may be a bit of a challenge so we will also have ethernet wires snaking everywhere throughout the arena. The bandwith is deffinitly good enough for live streaming and whatever else you'd like to do (160,000GB connection).

Thanks Deniz, i am bringing my own soldering irons. I just wanna know if there is a socket where they fit in ;-)))

Is there any virtual meeting where we get information how we can setup our stuff? I mean doing a workshop we need a dedicated area, tables, maybe chairs etc.

Thanks for your prompt reply, i am already excited to be there...coming all the way from Shanghai and missing one week with my parents...but it's worth i guess \o/

Let me put you in touch with our stage managers for workshops and robotics so they can provide the space you need for your workshop and get it placed on the official schedule. Email me and I'll make all the introductions deniz [a] campus-party.org

We're looking forward to having you! Are you flying into Berlin?
