Let's Make Robots!

So rusty

Ok so I'm still waiting on all my new parts to arrive, in the meantime I'm thinking I should warm up the ol' grey matter engine and unrust my electronics knowledge. Can anyone recommend a tutorial site or ebook(s) (I used to have the '80s booklets from Radioshack on beginning electronics, can't find them though) that is geared more towards robotics? Primarily anything that would help with PICAXE or Arduino based microcontroller interfacing.

I'm rusty on schematic reading, basic electronic component properties like diodes, caps, resistors, ic's etc. Any help/advice would be appreciated :).

http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/ general electronics, my favorite reference source.

http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/ my favorite arduino tutorials.

To begin with download this PDF: http://letsmakerobots.com/files/DSE200405_catalogue_data_0.pdf
It has a lot of useful information on common electrical components in a small handy document.

Picaxe Manual 3 is all about interfacing hardware, the information applies to Arduino as well as Picaxe since both Micro controllers have similar I/O specifications.

This is great thanks!

Btw, any word on those magnetic servo clutches you're working on? http://letsmakerobots.com/node/32198

And I'm really interested in your progress (if you've even had the time) on the universal mapping project of yours: http://letsmakerobots.com/node/27655

The clutches are available for sale. I'm not sure if any distributors are stocking them yet. You can buy them from Claudia but the shipping will be expensive.

The mapping project is something I am working on in my spare time. Now I have a family there's not much of that :-)
