Let's Make Robots!

Send your robot to Maker Faire

Can't make it to Maker Faire this year?

Maybe your robot can!

Last year, quite a few people sent their robots to me to be displayed at Maker Faire. They were a big hit! I even made up some shirts to thanks some of the folk that sent robots from far away.

This year, guibot and the great team over at artica.cc sent me one of their Magabot tele-presence robots. It just arrived and it is really cool. I can't wait to get is all set up. Maybe some of you can come to Maker Faire via tele-presence. More on that later...

In the mean time, if you would like your robot to come to Maker Faire, even without you, please comment below or PM me quickly. There's still time, but the longer you wait, the less likely you'll be able to ship it to me on time!

I could probably still get Maus to you if you're interested.  I don't think it would be as offensive as some of the other robots that it has been suggested that I send to MF. ;-)

IG, in time for MF or not, I think I'll send you my LineIronBot as I'm preparing to move and have to leave behind lots of stuff that I won't be able to take with me pretty soon. Could you PM me your postal address please? :)

Two and a half weeks to go to Maker Faire. Any last minute submissions?

I've been making adjustments/modifications to Hexaspider hoping to send it to The Big City. Then I dropped it last night. Most of the legs are compromised now. I'm going to try to affect a quick but solid fix for the anticipated adventure.

Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch!

Figured I'd make a coutesy post. So I fixed the new legs and then broke the IR cable. I fixed the cable but pulled the main capacitor out of one of its holes. At some point while futzing around the left whisker developed a permashort. While desoldering the suspect connector I pulled both copper traces off the board.

I finally killed Hexy.

In reality I'll redo the PCB, cleaner and neater, but this will not happen in time for the MF.

Just thought I'd let you know not to wait up for my hexapod :(

Wow, that's quite a series of unfortunate incidents!

No problem, JAX. Gotta save some cool stuff for next year. ; j

Wow, got this post probably too late.

IG, please send me the address where I can send the LMR banner to.

Is there still time?

Two prototypes, (I call them Red and Blue because of the different coloured power LEDs) are on their way. Hopefully you will have enough helpers that you can let the public play with them and change the messages that they print.

You can see a video of Red and Blue fighting for space on the white board here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmq3s2o9vkE

Fantastic, Andrew :) (Ignoblegnome)
