Hi all,

I’ve been working on my first real robot last week-end and wanted to share it. It’s a simple quadruped arduino robot controlled by serial (via USB). Videos can be viewed on my blog : http://blog.joomun.org/2012/09/09/arduino-quadruped-robot/

The robot structure has been created with cheap mecanno clone

IR control has been added, i'll update the blog later.

It reminds me on my 4-leg insect bot :-) and I am about to re-build it with micro servos and an customized Attiny board.

Meccano is quite a good choice to build cool robots. I really need to buy more of that little metal pieces...

What's it called?  I think we all like the idea of "cheap!"

Looks a little like a "Coathanger Walker" but with cooler structure.

Here's an unsuccessful wheel robot build with the same type of structure :  http://blog.joomun.org/2011/11/27/building-robot-structure-for-arduino/

I don't have motor shield and gears/mechanics made the project to hard for now.

Hi Maxhirez,

Its called "Heay engineering metal DIY model", No.SJ699-28 from TIE-TONG. I bought it in Mauritius (where I live) for $23. I could'nt find it on the net.

I even saw cheaper models but don't know the quality.

Here's a large picture of the box. (sorry for the pic resolution)

cheap meccano clone

+1 and +1!
