cheap omni-wheels

maneuver's picture

I have been looking around for the cheapes possible multi-directional (or omni-)wheels.

So far I've found these on ebay from UK.

at roughly $4.50 (£3.29), but they only state shipping prices in UK. I've sent them a request for shipping to Norway, but in the mean time, I'm open for suggestions to other cheaper suppliers.

Do you guys know of any?

How about the ones on the DAGU price list?

A word from Oddbot on what the rollers are made of would be appreciated before putting down the money.

I'd asked about the rollers and Oddbot answered here.

Thanks! A pity about the answer but I half expected them to be hard plastic anyway :)

well I already have wheel #3, and spiffy as they are, they're made of hard plastic. I am still in the process of finding out if the others have rollers made of hard plastic - I expect claudia has lots of things on her hands at present - I'm patient though.

So after my recent skidmarks.... I've been looking for more omnis too. and I found this thread here and thought I'd add to it.

For my purposes, I can't use omnis with hard plastic rollers. They get nowhere, so I looked around for ones with rubber grip on them. Here is what I found - a range of wheels from the same manufacturer as the one in the top image from ebay:

This note from the manufacturer:

"The difference in the FXA108 and the FXA 308 is that the rollers are different.  The FXA108 has standard nylon rollers and the FXA 308, our CAT-TRAK model, has synthetic rubber coated polypropylene rollers for "grip.""

I've never seen these in the UK before and I just bought 3. Watch this space. I feel a robot coming on which can move in any direction in 2D space.

http://www.euroroll.de has som really pretty ones for only €2.28 (about $2.90) for the single ones, and €4.68 for the double ones.

but you have to buy for at least €50 so that's a 22 wheels minimum or 11 doubles like the one in the picture. And I think you have to pay shipping as well, but I'm not 100% sure what "delivery ex factory incl packaging" meens..
