Wow, you are bumping a really old link.

Those are the Tamiya track set. Tamiya also makes a dual gearbox twin motor set that works well with these. The motors that come with the dual gearbox are only 3V. I believe Pololu (and maybe others) sell motor 'upgrades' for the gearbox, so you can run them at higher voltages if desired.

Do some searching. Google is your friend.

These things seem great for the price, but I don't like the orange wheels.  If I paint (spray paint) them black, will it mess up their functionality at all?  I'm assuming they're not so touchy as to get messed up by that, but maybe someone here knows something I don't.

As long as the axles can turn and the spokes dont have globs of paint, they will work.

The only downside to these is the belts are rubber and don't connect via pins. They have tabs that fit together and not always tight. I may hot glue mine together so they dont pop apart.

Would you have them in teh "not-so-great" category, then? Are these: http://letsmakerobots.com/node/387 a better option? ('cos I have some already and they're great.) They're still rubber, but they have no links.

At risk of facing the wrath of fritsl, THIS is probably the correct place to ask the question: Anyone any idea where I can find these in the UK?

 Many thanks.
