Mounting brackets for SRF05 (Open letter to Jack / DAGU)

SRF05 is still IMHO the best low-cost distance sensor.

And there is still no good / smart / fancy / easy / pro / cheap way to mount the darn thing on a turning neck / servo / front..

We now have a good contact to DAGU from China who makes cheap and cool robot-stuff.

So.. I thought.. Why don't we make some suggestions to how we would like such a mounting thing(ey) shaped and made? And then ask Jack from DAGU if he could start producing it?

This was my idea.. and now I need your help and ideas towards the design :)

Hey, that's a cool site! We should work together with these guys!
4volt published his Jansen walker on thingiverse

It might be worth having Pololu laser cut one or two in plexiglas as a sample.

Can you post the drawing file?

Get Pololu to make a prototype???!!! Somebody forehead slap that man!

I am perfectly capable of making my own prototypes and besides DAGU are going to produce these.

A bottle opener to it?
Besides, the trendy accessory these days is a flashdrive.
To quote the Big Bang Theory (tv program not the actual theorem) "everything is better with bluetooth" =p

Thank to suggestions and dimensions from Robologist and Rik I have improved the design. The two faces now have different hole patterns to match all the sensors mentioned as well as some slots for anything else we haven't thought of. The face can now tilt down as much as 35degrees and up by as much as 90degrees. Each face is 50mm x 30mm, I have assumed a material thickness of 1.5mm although this is not a critical dimension.

OB, this is just way awesome, really cool design.

Knew there was at least one I was forgetting, here's Ping dimensions Rudolph mentioned, page 1. You probably have it already covered in the slant corners, they appear to be just a little bigger than the SRF04s.

Thanks, robologist, for posting that. By the time I got back to locating the ping manual you'd already put the info, and OddBot had already made the changes. Guess I need to speed up a bit. Or lay off the rum.
