Due to the large number of comments detailing the dangerousness of this, I have decided to delete it. An admin can fully erase this post if they wish.
I came across this post again. I thought it still has some serious educational purpose. How NOT to do something. So I decided not to delete it.
But nobody new knows what this thread was about, therefore I would delete it and start a new thread on proper battery charging (educational thread).
Why keep this post? There's nothing on it except a couple angry outbursts.
dent theres some good info in this page.
it explains why you should take care with lipo batteries
well, apparently all that was for nothing. I agree it is potentially dangerous, but hell, it's up to you. I guess you guys can delete my post...
MARK FOR DELETION.
I was being very careful and polite in my above response. I ddn't want another post to "disappear" for annoying the powers that be :)
Considering the level of expertise among some members, charging a LiPo off a pc is like handing a running chainsaw to a 3 year old.
No one should attempt this. C'mon, a direct-connect charger to a lipo battery? Not a single diode, nothing to regulate current or volts, no measure of temp. This is the most stupid post I have ever seen and is going to get some young, dumb kid (who thinks you know what you are doing and doesn't himself know better) burned or killed. That, or we are going to see a house burned to the ground. THIS IS A COMPLETLY IRRESPONSIBLE POST.
DON'T DO THIS. DON'T DO THIS.
oohhh yeah that video is scary
Yeah, like Myc said, if the battery gets hot, unplug it immediately. These steps worked for me with no problem, though you still need to be very careful.
