28 X2 stack kit, or a canuck kit

So after dealing with Advanced Micro Shiters Services, I bought my kit off a Canadian company, HVW Tech. Calgary based it was bought by Solar Robotics quite recently.

Pretty good deal, about 50$ CAD gets you:

- 'AXE Stack-28 kit
- PICAXE Programming Cable
- 2-Panel Solderless Breadboard
- Breadboard Voltage Regulator Kit
- 140 Piece Wiring Kit

They called me the day after I ordered to tell me that the wiring kit was out of stock but would send it when they had it.

The only difference was the actual picaxe board which is their variation, I guess it's made for going directly into a bread board/proto board.

The only bad part to it is that the pins are different from the standard kit so you have to refer to a conversion sheet.

You have to put it together, it was really easy though, considering I suck at soldering :P

Here are some photos of the kit.

The 5V voltage regulator, again, you have to put it together.

Boris,

That looks sweet! A breadboard friendly picaxe board! And for the amount of stuff included, looks like a good deal. Was the programming cable serial or USB?

Ahh, USB I wish, it was

Ahh, USB I wish, it was serial, I ordered the usb for 20CAD

How long did it take to solder this kit? I'm not too good with soldering either!

It's really straight

It's really straight forward, they have outlines of everything on the pcb so it's really more like building blocks :P

I have no formal training in school and taught my self from online videos. I've soldered only 3-4 times before.

This kit took 45 minutes to solder both the picaxe and the voltage regulator

You made a good choice. The original picaxe 28 project board is a pain to breadboard. It comes with male pins!  You either have to solder or buy sockets to connect!
