An even cheaper Wi-Fi board

For a few cents more than the ESP12F you get it with a programmer daughter board, a RGB led, a button and a photoresistor.
This is ideal for small robot with networking abilities.
Can be programmed with Arduino IDE as a NodeMCU v1.0 .

Curt the Creeper Update: Adding Voice Interactivity and Sound; 4 bar linkage design


I spent the past few weeks researching voice interactivity and sound effect playback (mainly through Google search), and designing a 4 bar linkage to figure out what powertrain I need to drive the feet movement.  I thought others might benefit from info about my work so I'm posting it here.  This project will likely move at a fairly slow pace mainly due to current budget constraints.

Anyone know about machine learning on Arduino?

I saw this code about Neural net on an Arduino here: http://robotics.hobbizine.com/arduinoann.html

and would like to know how I could apply it to my latest robot DuckBot so that it could figure out how get back on it's feet

on it's own instead of me having to code explcitely to do that. I have one sensor that currently says if angle of sensor indicates < 145 degrees then robot has fallen. It uses 3 servos to get back up on its feet.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Quadruped Sneak Peak!

In the Grapes of Wrath, there was a turtle that had a lot of symbolism, and in English class, you can basically do anything for the final project. So I thought, what the heck, I'll just play my strengths! Below is a rough CAD using 3d-printed parts and MG996R servos. Electronics are not really shown, shell is not missing (like there's a CAD of a salad bowl out there), and the head has been remodified to have a more "turtle" look.
