I recently purchased a Parallax PIR Motion Detector from Radio Shack. These devices are only about $10 US, and do a nice job of general motion detection when your … Read more
A video tutorial for your first Propeller program
Here's a video tutorial for the venerable 'Blinky Light' program with the Propeller.  I originially did a written guide to spin (here), this video is meant as … Read more

IR and ultrasound based positioning beacons

I have this idea for a positioning system based on IR+ultrasound beacons. It is very simple, and I'm surprised that I can't find anything like that already in use. I guess there are some problems that I can't see, so I wanted to ask you to point the flaws in my idea before I invest time and materials into chasing a pipe dream.

The goal is to get an accurate position of a robot inside a room that is decorated with some additional beacons. The positions of the beacons are known to the robot, so that it can position itself relative to them.

My two cents in memory of Lumi

Lumi meant a lot to me, and a whole lot more to this awesome community. Yesterday, I went rolling over past memories of Lumi - his time spent on LMR and other places around the world - and came up with a short tribute to this great person.

It's shocking, but life goes on. We all will miss you Lumi.
