My First Robot

This is my first robot. It uses a POP-168 power board (which is based off a arduino ATmega 168). It uses two DC motors for movement, and a parallax standard servo motor with a sharp IR sensor mounted on it for object detection.

How to calculate servo strength && my micro arm

Do what I say, not what I do...

I have told a lot of folks that it is very hard/impossible to build an arm using micro servos. As the arm gets longer and the weight of each servo along the arm is added, the base servos can't keep up. Well, I don't believe myself. Now that I have discovered the wonder of Plastruct, and the lightness thereof, I am going to make a stab at this one.

Bob is born

 

Well, thanks to not being allowed to alter Serenit-e's looks, I have a spare set of tracks & a dual-motor gearbox to work with - seems a shame to let them go to waste.

Bob is going to be a test-bed for trying out any new circuitry I come up with, such as controller boards, sensors, displays etc.

Anyone know about machine learning on Arduino?

I saw this code about Neural net on an Arduino here: http://robotics.hobbizine.com/arduinoann.html

and would like to know how I could apply it to my latest robot DuckBot so that it could figure out how get back on it's feet

on it's own instead of me having to code explcitely to do that. I have one sensor that currently says if angle of sensor indicates < 145 degrees then robot has fallen. It uses 3 servos to get back up on its feet.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Quadruped Sneak Peak!

In the Grapes of Wrath, there was a turtle that had a lot of symbolism, and in English class, you can basically do anything for the final project. So I thought, what the heck, I'll just play my strengths! Below is a rough CAD using 3d-printed parts and MG996R servos. Electronics are not really shown, shell is not missing (like there's a CAD of a salad bowl out there), and the head has been remodified to have a more "turtle" look.
