Cannibalizing a broken printer/scanner. Suggestions?!

My boss asked if i wanted a partially working printer scanner combo jobby today. Dont think he was expecting me to rip it apart for parts.

Ive only got SO far into pulling it to pieces, i will have to go and get a complete Torx driver set tommorow, ive gone as far as i can with >T15.

Anyone got any suggestions as to what i should do with this thing?!

Made In Nepal Expo 2014 : A Glimpse

Hey there guys!

Whenver there's a relatively huge event in Nepal, the organizers resort to "Bhrikuti Mandap" as the venue. So was the case this time. The Made in Nepal Expo 2014 was held from 14th - 17th Feb 2014, at Bhrikuti Mandap. 

As the event name suggested, the event hosted hundreds of stalls that ranged from furniture to clothing and from pottery to 21st century art-work, in short, everything that's made in Nepal. Of course, why would I post this if there weren't some robots on display?

Indoor navigation system?

So I'm working on a delivery bot for my office, the hardest part of which is the navagation system becuase I want it to be autonomous. 

I have Wifi Access points I could use, maybe or gps repeaters. 

Have any of you tackled this challenge or have some advice?

I'm an absolute beginner with robotics, and would like to make a serious start, but I'm not sure where to start, should I read books first? I want to buy the tools and parts I need, but I don't want to spend a lot of money, and then I can't use it..

Making a PING sensor control a DC motor

Hi, guys. I'm kinda new to this robot-scene. I've been doing it for about 3 days i bought a arduino uno r3 and a few other odds and ends to make a simple robot. ive got 2 DC motors(3v), A PING sensor, and everything else to make a robot(don't feel like going into detail lol). I know how to run the motor and the sensor by themselves but i need some help making the sensor and the motor cooperate. Any ideas

 

P.S. i have programming knowledge so i dont need it (dumbed) down lol

Controlling a 16 x 1 Character LCD with a Propeller

I have some 16x1 LCDs I was hoping to control with a Propeller. I know there are several other LMRians with these LCDs who also have Propellers. I thought I'd share what I've learned in my attempt to control the LCD with the Propeller.

I found the datasheet here. As someone in the Shout Box noticed it treats the character starting in column 9 differently than the previous eight characters.

Service Droid V3.0

I was talking to a friend last night and he pointed out the Service Droid would be better on the Rover 5 Chassis. This is what I have so far.

The Service Droid is a cheap robot body with a reasonable amount of functionality. The idea is that you can fit it with whatever sensors and processor you want.

LIDAR Lite Development

Rather pricey but if it can provide better scanning capability over the ultrasonic sensors it might be fun to use. Any one heard about this?

HMC6352 Compass Module in Continuous Read Mode

I have a need (desire?) to use compass heading as part of my PID loop to keep my rover heading true.  Using my well established trial and error coding technique, I was unable to get a sufficient sample rate from the HMC6352 Compass module using code I pilfered.. er... borrowed (I plan to give it back!) from the Interwebs.
