Waterproof ultrasonic sensor?

Markamas's picture

Can I unsolder the transducers from the Parallax PING sensor and replace them by these ones: http://www.parallax.com/Store/Sensors/ObjectDetection/tabid/176/ProductID/755/List/0/Default.aspx?SortField=ProductName,ProductName? They operate at the same frequency. Also, why does the PING sensor have two transducers? I guess one is a transducer and the other is a receiver, but is it the same part?

Hey folks! This is my first robot of this kind. Orginally I wanted to use a different controllerboard with everything built onto it already, but programming it so … Read more

Area mapping

Markamas's picture

I have (that is relative because I have not yet ordered my first parts from Robotshop) a PING ultrasonic sensor. I'll be having an arduino mini - though I'll no doubt buy something bigger after - and I wonder if I can efficiently make my upcoming rover (differentially driven, nothing special really) map it's surrounding area using a grid. Is it possible or will I run short on memory with the arduino mini? And more importantly, I need help with the code (I have 0 experience with code, though I have enough theory I guess...). Any suggestions are appreciated.

Ultrasonic sensor

TheBromz's picture

Hi,

I have this ultrasonic sensor, it's from a part of a Cybot. I was wondering if anyone's used one of these on a Picaxe and if so, did it work?

It's a 9v part, so I'm unsure if it will work on Pcaxe.

ultrasonic sensors from Cybot

I'm trying to understand this sonar-board from my old cybot robot, but I think I will need a little help :

http://www.lpilsley.co.uk/cybot/sonario.htm

- If I'm correct I should put a voltage on the transmitter sensors for a short period of time (100 ms?), then read in the value of pin 2 and 3, right?

- What voltage should the transmitters get? 5V?

Anybody please tell me how to interface this sensor with arduino, i planning to create a obstacle avoiding robot using two dc motors and a servo with this sensor.

Please help me with programming and circuit...

Thanks,

LV-MaxSonar Sensor Questions

Simon Z's picture

Hello,

This is my first post here at LMR. I decided to write out a question in the format of a blog. Since I've had some trouble getting my head around this issue and I found limited resources regarding this special device on the Internet. Creating a blog post might help other people with similar questions as me.

Dagu's Ultrasonic Sensor testing

RobotFreak's picture

I've made some testing with the ultrasonic sensor from Dagu. Tests were made on the platform the sensor is build for, the Asuro. The sensor works pretty well, most of the the time. The range of obstacle detection is from 0..25cm. Sometimes the sensor dismiss an obstacle, when the objects is not directly in front of the robot.

The video gives some impressions, how this sensor works.

It allows a temporary electrical mount for the srf005
Hi. This is an idea for mounting the SRF05 on a servo for use in all those great projects that are on the go. The main advantages to this are: it's simple, cheap … Read more
