LMR CAD Team - README

Rudolph_adm's picture

To extend the idea for a place to share CAD files, LMR now has this forum specifically for the purpose. Please keep your posts on-topic.

To attach a CAD library to a post, please wrap your files up in a .zip or .tar.gz archive. Rather than adding potentially dozens of file extensions to the "allowed" list, this will make it less likely to forget some.

This post will be updated with more intelligent information, because I don't have a clue what I'm talking about when it comes to CAD.

LMR community on skype...

vishurockssrivastava's picture

I make another off topic forum to ask you this-

Does anyone know if there is an LMR Community Group on skype?

If yes then please tell me about it.

If no, then I want to start one but want permission to do so. The main action remains here in LMR and on the shout box but we can go a step further and increase our limits. Skype can be a way to know others both face to face or through voice and text.

If there isn't a group on Skype, can you guys post your views here on this topic?

LMR meeting in Shanghai

lumi's picture

We did it again. This time our friend OddBot (Russel) visited Shanghai and we got the chance to meet again, even with his limited time in Shanghai.

So, who is "we"? That's MarkusB (Markus), Taweili (David) and me. You can see Russel, Markus and me on the following picture. David as a photographer is behind the cam (sorry about the quality but this is not David's fault but the cheapy Point-and-Shoot camera ;-)

LMR Robotic Online Football (Soccer)

Ro-Bot-X's picture

I decided to resuscitate the LMR soccer game using my new µBipedino robots. The game will play as it was originally discussed, just with different players. These new robots can run around for about an hour on a fresh charge (when a Bluetooth module is attached), so the game will consist of 2 halves of 30 minutes each.

LMR app (for the admins or any app developer for iphone/android)

SimpleBotics's picture

I was thinking that it would be a great idea for an LMR app to be created, It should be .99 cents or 1.99 so money could pay for publishing the app and the profits would go towards LMR. The app would let users browse robots, use the shout box, and UPLOAD robots on their mobile advice! Comments and opinions welcome!

LMR on Twitter

BotFIN's picture

So hey guys and girls!
If you didn't know, me (@BotFIN on Twitter) and GeneralGeek (@NoahMoroze) are in the Twitter as LMR. Twitter add's our names to end of the posts (I don't know why). But we are "official" employees of LMR on Twitter now :)

Mini Makers Faire - ShenZhen, China - LMR will be there!!!

OddBot's picture

Much to my surprise and delight, DAGU will be attending the Mini Makers Faire in ShenZhen. We will also try and setup an LMR stand. I know this is short notice as the Faire is only 1 month away but I would like to invite LMR members to attend or at least send in one of their robots.

Links to photos and videos will also be welcome. I will get the photos printed and use them as a backdrop. I will have at least one large computer monitor playing LMR videos.

Hey everyone this is Doug (or targetdg15). I had just a quick second to offer my thoughts on LMR and the support raising. I'm not the best speaker but I mean every word. I just wanted to do a quick post. Look forward to a much better video comeing from ignoblegnome.... On that subject, we are looking for video clips from users to build that better video. See the "have you donated yet" page fro more ideas on the matter. Thanks all!

Hello, and congratiolations to all of us :D

LMR 4 years birthday will be officially celebrated in the time from Saturday January 28th to Friday February 3th 2012.

It's almost a tradition that creative souls make some form of artwork to celebrate - and if you should do so this year, please either post it here, or link to it from here :)

Also, make sure to keep an eye on the front page, where announcements and stuff will be posted during the celebration :)

MintyProbe, the Altoid can logic probe

Krumlink's picture

Inspired by Andersen and CTC, I am putting together a Logic Probe Kit consisting of:
MintyProbe, a tiny 3.5"x2.25"x.75" Logic probe with 2x16 LCD Screen able to:
                Detect High, Low, Floating Inputs
                Signal Pulse Length
                Voltage readout (5V and Under)

LMR series of PCB's

I think that LMR should have its own series of circuit boards, with the designs open source for all LMR'ians to use. Heres a couple ideas for PCB's:

Hi all, This is it! As I got a fully (more or less) functional CNC (see here: http://letsmakerobots.com/node/24217), I can finally start doing what I have intended … Read more

An official LMR robotics comp.

winfieldrobotics's picture

Hello

Most of you know I've had a lot of interest in my cross the gap challenge.

So I asked Frits about us having a "Official" LMR online competition at the end of this year. He said he is interested, but has too many obligations to be personally involved beyond giving the final approval, and adding stuff to the home page, etc.

If you want to be involved with exploring this concept, we will have to come up with a new game, and write up the rules, and figure out who's judging the video's, etc. I can get prizes donated.

Hi LMR,

Now that the Phoenix CNC works good enough to do some real work, I have finally started working on a new project:

YATB - Yet Another Traked Bot - at least until I find a better name for it

I will try to document it's building saga here, before creating a robot page for it.

So without further intro:

Phase one: Tracks

First I have done some Blender designing, I came to design something roghly as below:

You know our Components section right? Most of the components in that database are automatically imported from a few vendors who are friendly enough to allow us access to their databases. Each time a new component is added to a vendor's catalog, our server imports it into ours. Changes in details like description and price are also automatically updated.

LMR Downtime

Rudolph's picture

LMR will be down for a software update tonight about 10pm PST (GMT-8). No big changes, just some core updates. Expected downtime is 30 minutes or less.

Capacitors

flare's picture

Hi y'all, just joined LMR, fantastic site, lovin' it already . . .

I am a bit of a beginner to robotics, I mean I can program and all that, and make these things, but I know not how or why they work.

One thing I have been wondering is about capacitors:

When designing a circuit, how does one know where to place capacitors, or why to have them, or how they function in that position?

With this circuit in particular (from here: http://letsmakerobots.com/node/2074), why the caps?

those two in the top-right, why do they both need to be there?

Hi all, Phoenix is almost ready for prime time, mechanics almost done aside for e few things here and there. Some pictures … Read more

Android LMR app ..?

fritsl's picture

Google has made it pretty easy to create apps for their Android OS, that I am sure you have heard about, and possibly use.

I am a heavy user, and I'd like to try and make an LMR app, just for the fun of it. Or have yours on my phone?

But what on earth would be fun or possibly even useful?

Perhaps it's  an all together stupid idea, because one can always just use the phones browser, and get "the real thing" there, even log in and all. Several of my posts have been made that way, from my phone.

Hi again! She is back up, almost useful now. Now with video ... =>                   And the result of the video:                       (yes … Read more

I have been looking at almost all the robots and proyects that LMR has, let me tell you people that i am amazed.....

I began this robotic journey a year ago, the internet was so helpfull in getting knowlege, ideas and fun....

LMR is so big, so powerfull that i started to read almost all the proyects to get ideas, in that ideas i find the knowlege and the pleasure of finally sharing my achivements....

Xbee Live Conference

rik's picture

Call for conference guests

Who is interested in the upcoming Skype Conference on the advanced features of Xbees? The conference will be broadcast as a special live episode of the video (help-) show.

We are looking for a suitable and practical time slot. Hopefully some time this weekend. Can I hear some suggestions?

Live soccer robots on LMR

OddBot's picture

Recently Gareth suggested to me that it would be good to have 2 teams of my bi-ped robots playing soccer. This was too good an idea to ignore.

After talking about this idea backstage this is where we are at:
