20Amp Motor Driver/Controller

I am looking for a 20 amp motor controller/driver. I prefer an IC, that way I can integrate my own driver circuitry, but if it is cheap (under 50) post it. I'd prefer if it could provide 20 amps per channel. It will be operating on 12VDC.

Basic platform - On the cheap

Hi, I'm planning to make a small set of self designed swarm bots.

In terms of a mechanical platform, what's my best bet. My criteria are cheapness and easiness. Ideally, it should cost < $25 per platform, and be easy to make.

So far, I'm thinking of pairing two solarbotics GM9 gearmotors and wheels with a thin wood base, and a third caster-esque wheel.

Is this the best way to go?

Cheap mini wireless cameras

I was playing around with some code for machine vision (object/facial/color/motion-detection) a long time ago, and I'm thinking to put a camera on a robot sooner or later and see where that'll take me.

So I was looking for cheap wireless cameras and I was astonished to find these:

900MHz Mini Wireless Color Camera w/Built-in Microphone - $25.50

Cheap & Easy Speech For Robots

I am always on the search for cheap hackable devices for robots. I have found a couple here you can use to add cheap, easy, and unlimited speech to your robot.

Hand held battery vacuum cleaner

I bought a cheap battery powered vacuum cleaner from dealextreme to build into Ozzy. The idea was to build a front mounted vacuuming attachment as inspired by emullers vacuum bug. I was pretty skeptical of its sucking power and for about $6 with free shipping worldwide I wasn`t expecting it to be very useful. Now that it has arrived I can say yes indeed it does suck! In a good way!

Heres a small pre-hacking photo review.

A quick tip for all you cheap skates out there. I've always had it in my head that I would like my robot to have no permanent connections, to allow me to experiment and reconfigure. This also has the nice side effect of less soldering for me to mess up. I actually have a cunning plan to pay my flatmate in jelly beans to do the tough bits for me; he's an electrical engineer (rock!).
