Robots Community and Tutorials www.botstop.net

Hello every at Lets Make Robots, Happy Birthday.

I would like to make you aware of a website I am starting up, BotStop.NET. You can upload your robot to have it reviewed by others in the robotics community, read and make suggestions towards robotics tutorials, take part in competitions to win parts and components for your creations, or chat in the forums.

Still thinking about the name - bot

Hi LMR, been thinking about this robot... for the chassis, i will be using a nitro car chassis, and going to bend it the shape i want, its 2mm pink anodized aluminium(they didnt give colour choices lol)

will be using the tamiya dual gearboxes, havent used them before, so if they aren't what i expect i'll will have to get something else xD

here's some skecth uping of what i expect to have:

Urban RoverBot by MakerDino of SoR

This robot was made by MakerDino fellow member of SoR Forum. I loved the design so I wanted to share it with you guys.

3pi

I recently bought a pololu 3pi robot and tried programming it with a USB Programmer, but couldn't get it to work with Arduino.  Does anyone know how.  Its this -> http://www.makershed.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=MKPO2
Last weekend we had a nice weather, and I made a Light in the garden, and decided to make a photo of it with my robot next to … Read more

Incredible wooden mechanical machines video

Have a look at the engineering that has gone into some of these machines. I especially like the gearbox mechanism on the 2nd video to change from raising to extending the arm.

Robort art made from spare parts!

Line Follower Robot using a PIC18F252 microcontroller

I am using C Programming to program a PIC18F252 microcontroller chip that allows a robot to follow a line then change directions in different direction on each end and also senses blockage and goes back. This is my code wich at the moment is giving me problems allowing the robot to change directions in different directions and sense blockage...can anyone see where i am going wrong and help out?????????

#include <p18F252.h>

my new project

my new project is a bot that helps around the house.i want to make one for my mom i want to have a charging station that it atonomusly charges it self.im probly going to have it eather vacume or sweep with a swiffer pad.im going to use adrino and about 6 servos.for a charging station im going to have a botton on the bak of the bot that triggers a relay so it dose not fry components.

the shell of the bot is eather going to be a plastic case or a form of paper machea. strenthened with chicken wire or fabric so the user could paint it

Basic Triagulation Positioning System

3 Friends and I are building an autonomous tennis ball collecting robot for a 4th year design project for our undergrad.

We need a way for the robot to keep track of its position on the tennis court (in doors) and we are thinking of using 2 beacons to emit signals with a receiver on the robot. Has anybody done something like this before? Has anyone heard of pre-packaged solutions that do just this? A USB module would be ideal (we are using a netbook to control the robot), but we are not at all opposed to building the positioning system from scratch.

RC car controlled by PC or PDA using wireless communication

Hallo Everybody !

This is my very first post ! ))

I am doing the robo-project in the university. The main task is to build a robot using wireless technology that can be able to perform number of tasks that are sent from the PC.

What microcontroller should i use?

Am planning on building a robot that  would have the abilitty to navigate , avoid obstacles and collect some items.

What chip should i use?

Whats the difference between pic and picAxE?

thanks in advance :)

Ever feel like your being watched?

I was checking some samples to go to Germany and had a strange feeling that I was being watched.

SSS - Servo Suspension System

This is my first experiment with the MakerBot. I am totally thrilled with this machine!!!

SSS (servo suspension system) is designed to support standard servo motors and act as a basic suspension. It is still a work in progress and has not been tested yet.

Will update results as soon as possible (still waiting to have my lab back).

I would like to know everyone's opinion on this  :)

Code Repository!

Can we get everyone who has got their code to successfully run to post their files here? Ive been looking all over the site for a central area for code, and I cannot find one. If there is one, point me in that direction, if not, lets all start posting here!

Try not to paste lines of code here, lets keep it clean. uploaded files only please!

What do you guys think?

real shops in London

Does anybody know of any interesting robot parts shop in London town, UK?

I'm on my way there tomorrow on a business trip, and have time to kill.

I'd love to go into a shop and touch and feel stuff before I buy...

Where are the attachments???

Here is my question for the Admins: Where are the attachments on my robot page? Why are they only visible when you log in?

Scoots Plan

Well im starting to make a robot named Scoots and it will be in like a bowl with LED Eyes and will be like a beetle bot. Since im a scavenger and i hate buying stuff above 10/20 $ i will make it only from parts in my house or cheap junk i bought.

Vacuum forming plastic parts.

Heres a few photos of my home made plastic vacuum former and its maiden test. If you don`t know what vacuum forming is check here, and youtube.

Essentially a sheet of heated plastic is placed over some kind of mould which then has the air sucked out from underneath it. The soft plastic schloops to the shape of the mould and when it cools you have yourself a robot part. It really does sound like schloop if you`re wondering.

Line Follower using Atmega8

Hi all, I am new here and about to make a debut in robotics with a simple line follower robot.

I have chose AVR ATmega8 as my microcontroller because I found out that we can chose which pins we want as input and which ones as output. So this seems pretty cool for a microcontroller. Also i figured out that it is cheaply available here.
