Wavefront Algorithm Mapping

Hi, LMRians. I've been reading up on this Wavefront Algorithm Navigation and I understand bits and pieces of it, but not everything. I'm trying to learn up on it so I can use it in my next robot : Project 4L-FRED (Alfred), a butler robot. The robot is suppose to navigate around the house from the dining area to the living room and serve drinks to guests. The robot will have pre-recorded messages like greetings and stuff like asking what drinks the guest would prefer.

Artist, first time robot creator

Hi everyone. I'm an art student who's doing my instillation for my Advanced Drawing class on automated art and the creative power of robots. Needless to say I'm quite lost when it comes to the mechanics of it. I got ideas, but ideas don't mean shit if they're not backed up by knowledge. That's why I'm asking you guys for help, and hopefully I can take the advice and use it to make some really effective pieces.

 

Axe - the sumobot

Hello hello!

As you can guess, I am making a new robot, and it is a small sumo!
Features:
- Picaxe 14M
- 2 modified micro servos
- 1 LDR to see the line of the ring
- Sharp IR sensor
- Bottle cap wheels until I make up a better solution (Yes, lol :D)

And when I will receive parts, or get something done, I am going to update this until it is time to post a robot!
Tomorrow (I think) I'm going to post schematics and maybe printed layout ready to make it pcb!

I was perusing all the amateur DIY near-space balloon flights that have been gaining popularity lately, and a thought hit me.

Would it be possible to have a two stage flight; first stage would be the balloon and payload reaching a certain altitude. The second stage, when this specific altitude is reached, a ROCKET is fired from within the payload, taking it further into space (hopefully reaching escape velocity.

Raspberry Pi Robot

Hopefully I didn't get your guys' hopes up, but I don't actually have a Raspberry Pi yet. However, it's on its way to my door (although I'm currently on vacation, so I'll have to wait a week). Now I'm filling up my time thinking of ways to use it. Most likely, I plan to make a robot from it. Since the Raspberry Pi has a lot more computational oomph than the Arduino, I want to make something more advanced than what I've done before. It'll probably be a mobile computer, with a keyboard, mouse, small screen, and perhaps some sort of manipulator to interact with the world.

Design of 3D printed enclosure - first printout

Here is a quick update related to this post about 3D printed robot enclosure.

Two videos below illustrate the goal - how it will looks like soon :-). And here is the first step into this direction - my first 3D-printed part of the enclosure shown in the video. Took me about the whole week from receiving the packet with Ultimaker kit till the first reasonable printout came out :-) .

Any Botbuilders in central Florida?

Don't know where to post this or if it's appropriate (I'm sure I'll find out if not) but anyone in the central Florida area interested in getting a robotics group together? Since I've searched and couldn't find an existing group I figured I would start one myself.
