Driving a motor with solar cells (without a solar engine)

What I want to do is this: I have a basic bicore hooked up to a vibration motor.  He kind of flops around, but it isn't totally random.  Anyway, I was wondering how I could power him with some solar cells that I have without using a solar engine.  If that's possible, I would really like to hear some ideas.

Sneak Peek: Jamie's Awesome Robot Toy

Some of you may know user Jamie, who has posted here occasionally, but spends most of his online time on his YouTube Channel. There he posts about his Giant Robot Project and other amazingly cool stuff he does.

infrared sensors

I've got two sets of phototransistors and infrared emitters put together to make two IR distance sensors. They are both connected in the same way, both powered by my Arduino Uno, both with the same resistor, etc. But when I check the values I'm getting from them, one of them ranges from about 980 - 1010, with the higher value closest to the sensor. The other, however, goes from about 350 - 570, with the higher value the furthest from the sensor.

It uses a Parallax Basic Stamp and four servo motors. It will use a SOMO 14-D to read the recipes aloud. The buttons are going to be used to control the reading of … Read more

How do you connect a SRF005 to an Arduino MEGA 1280

I need help on connecting a srf005 (the blue one) to an Arduino MEGA 1280

You can use this image as a guide.

I want the connection for the srf005 using only three pins. :) (The one where you connect the mode pin to ground)

making an analog robot

I have been inspired to make an analog neural network robot after seeing phoenix. My robot is called synapse and it will react to its environment. It is nocturnal and it has touch sensor arms and only is active at night. I will update you a soon as i can.

Pick up objects, knows it's position. Can remember and repeat.

I have started building a quadruped robot using Lynxmotion SES parts. I have the Lynxmotion quadruped body kit and 4 SES 3DOF legs. I have bought servos and put everything together. However, I'm much more comfortable with the code than with the mechanics.

Beam photovore problem

Ok so I made this beam photovore robot using an online tutorial (google: rays beam robots) and after I completed it only one motor moves. Watch my video below.

arduino and SLAM

I am developing a robot platform for children for educational purposes. My aim is to build a sub 100$ bot with arduino brains. I myself is a good programmer, and if I were to do it for myself, I would use an ARM or a better platform, but I have to constraint this project with arduino.

I have already designed some parts, and I have access to a 3d printer, so it is going all well. I already have a servo/sharp IR sensor scanner, and currently I am using a tamiya tracked vehicle for platform.

Experimental RC Robotic Hand

Introducing my Experimental RC Robotic Hand. I'm going to use it for a robot that I will use to take on Ro-bot-X's "Search And Rescue" Challenge. It's purpose is to get a hold on the drink, obviously. This is only Version 0.2, I'm am currently building a lighter and easier to use grabber to replace the heavier hand that is attached to the winch motor.  More updates soon.

A Robot Operating System

We at RobotBASIC are currently working on a RobotBASIC Robot Operating System (RROS).

The full RROS will manage almost any type of sensor allowing hobbyists
without an electronics background to build and program sophisticated
robots.  The RROS will probably be distributed Open-Source to allow
expansion and customization.  We will even allow users to share their
modifications through our web page.  The LIGHT version is requiring
sensitive coding that will not be appropriate for modification, so it will

Robot Building Time

I just wanted to start a discussion about how you find time to build robots. I know that I love building robots but sometimes I can not find any time to do this hobby.

This is my first robot. I build it in a few hours and it it most mechanic. The bot is made using two servo's and a few pieces of wood and plastic.   Read more
