Robotic Development Platform

Hello everybody :)

I made this blog to tell you all about my latest project, after my Robotic Arm project has died out a little.

This little thing will be my first actual "robot". The whole idea behind it is that I will have a platform which will be easy to further develop, and thus be awesome to learn new stuff. 

Doodle Bot - beginners platform

The Doodle Bot is a very simple robotic platform for beginners, students and hobbyist.

The Chassis is a simple laser cut panel with two ball raced geared motors and a servo for raising and lowering a white board marker, jumbo chalk or crayon. Each wheel is fitted with an 8-pole magnet that is monitored by hall effect sensors to form two simple wheel encoders.

The kit includes an Arduino compatible controller with an ATmega8A processor, USB interface (CP2102) and FET, dual "H" bridge. Sample code allows the user to write simple alpha-numeric text messages.

How to Build a Ping Pong Robot (YouTube)

Hey,

The ModuPong YouTube channel is about a modular robotics system that tracks a ping pong ball in real-time. In addition, we cover in this channel how the system predicts and responds in less than 130ms.

S.A.M. as an Arduino Library - Software to make our robots talk

Back in the good old days of Atari's and Commodore64's there was a program called S.A.M. the software automated mouth. Considering this was available about 30 years ago I have always been dissapointed at the lack of progress in robotic speach since then.

I know there is some much better speech programs available now but how often have you had a computer talk to you?
S.A.M. is actually built into Adobe Reader. Just open a PDF file, go to the "View" menu and at the bottom you will find "Read Aloud".

Raspberry Pi Robot

Hopefully I didn't get your guys' hopes up, but I don't actually have a Raspberry Pi yet. However, it's on its way to my door (although I'm currently on vacation, so I'll have to wait a week). Now I'm filling up my time thinking of ways to use it. Most likely, I plan to make a robot from it. Since the Raspberry Pi has a lot more computational oomph than the Arduino, I want to make something more advanced than what I've done before. It'll probably be a mobile computer, with a keyboard, mouse, small screen, and perhaps some sort of manipulator to interact with the world.

Design of 3D printed enclosure - first printout

Here is a quick update related to this post about 3D printed robot enclosure.

Two videos below illustrate the goal - how it will looks like soon :-). And here is the first step into this direction - my first 3D-printed part of the enclosure shown in the video. Took me about the whole week from receiving the packet with Ultimaker kit till the first reasonable printout came out :-) .

Stereoscopic vision help

Hi, I am willing to built a stereoscopic navigation system (which will have 2 paralel webcams to capture images every X second and compare images with each other to find depth)  just for fun and coding challenge(more challenge actually) but i have no idea how to do that, i am searching and reading sources with all kind. however since i have no idea where to start more i read it makes me feel more confused and i cannot find a complete guide to follow.

PICAXE 28x1 Syntax Error

I need help, I'm trying to program a sonar with the PICAXE programing editor and tere's this Syntax error that shouldn't be there.

low portc 0
pulsout b.5,5
pause 200
pulsin portc 0, 1, w1
w1 = w1/29

It only complains with the "pulsin" line, the "low" line doen't create any sort of problems. What's wrong here?

Hey guys, i want to build a line following robot and I was scouring ebay for some sensors

where can i find these vex pieces?

okay, I have been scouring google trying to find the parts for the vex rcr mini walker crab thing, which should be displayed.

all the results I have found have been things like press announcements and demo robots built witgh this stuff, and none of it recent.

I personally want to build that walker, obviously with some extra personal touches added on, but I just cannot find the parts. every place seems to indicate that they were released, so did I just miss a limited run component or something?
