How do you use a L293D Motor Controller with an Arduino MEGA?

microbot777's picture

I have recently received my order from ebay. A L293D Motor Controller for my first robot. I read the datasheet and other guides but i can't figure out how to use it, please help! I didnt order 2 so i only have 1, if it fries, i cant get another one or i have to make one. :(

I am willing to bootload the chips myself.

Dual Cell Lipo Charging IC

Gonzik's picture

Hey guys,

Can anyone suggest an IC that could be used to charge dual cell Lipo batteries (7.4V) with cell balancing? Ideally the IC would be powerful enough that it could charge even if the system is under a light load. I am looking for something similar to
the MAX 1555 IC (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/674) but for multiple cells. My google search has been fruitless - I must be using the wrong keywords. Thanks for any help!

Schottky diode bridge IC for L298N?

1ceman's picture

Hi all!

Noob question: I'm using the L298N dual full H-bridge to drive my robot's 4 motors, can someone please give me the name of a chip that contains schottky diodes in a bridge configuration, so I can use it on the outputs to block back EMF? Sparkfun does the same on their boards: http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Robotics/ROB-09571-Serial%20Controlled%20Dual%20Motor%20Driver%20-%20v11.pdf

I know that there are such ICs since I recall a friend using a 16-pin DIP in a similar occasion, but I can't remember it's name. I think it started with "L".

20Amp Motor Driver/Controller

Krumlink's picture
I am looking for a 20 amp motor controller/driver. I prefer an IC, that way I can integrate my own driver circuitry, but if it is cheap (under 50) post it. I'd prefer if it could provide 20 amps per channel. It will be operating on 12VDC.

A IC form of NPN transistor ?

vince086's picture

Is there  such thing as a DIP package of transistors ? (not sure if that is the right way to put it)

I need to control 12 digital connections and putting 12 transistors on a PCB will take up a decent amount of space
so I was wondering if there is a chip like version.

If possible a high voltage ~40V and high amperage trnasistor would be perfect it it exists.

how to get 7493 to work

crazyraver's picture

i have been trying for the last few nights tyring to get my counter to work

the wireing should be correct ,

Vcc-5V

grnd- ground

input a, to pin 9 on the arduino and it is set to a constant 150 PWM

input b - connected to Qa

Qb, Qc Qd, to LEDs

do i need to hook up the R pins?

 i know the PWM works

and there is power going to the chip

but no counting is going on, so any help would be appreciated

this would be your first chip

This is an electronics question that has little to do with robots. But this forum seems a good place to ask it anyway.

For an upcoming diy project, I am in need of some advice on integrated radio circuits. For my 93 yr old grandmother I hope to build a radio that can do this:
