This is the improved version of the Edwardo V2.0 posted by Grimjack1973. We are working in colaboration and had to change the chasis design due to a few flaws. We … Read more
I finally got around to starting my first robot (years after i wanted to), after a long detour in playing with microcontrollers to do a bunch of other stuff. :-p
I ordered most of the parts i need from pololu but now i've found that i need standoffs to add a second tier to my tamiya plate chassis. I have the tamiya track set and the universal plate set but the standoffs i ordered won't work because they are only 3/16" of threading and the plate is 1/8" thick leaving only 1/16" to try to screw a nut on.
I said in my last blog entry that I wanted to play with the sensors first, and I did a bit, but I decided to go ahead and assemble the chassis and drivetrain first. I got the Tamiya track and wheel set, the dual gear box and the universal plate set. All this stuff is meant to work together, but the directions are in Japanese and it took a bit of kajiggering to get working right. In particular, it gives you no real hints about how many of the track sections to use, you just have to estimate and if you get it wrong, take it apart and try again.
This is my entry for the 2011 Swedish National Robitcs Championship. It finished on a shared last place, since my code was written for dark lines on a light surface … Read more

This robot, Huey, improves structurally on my previous design, providing a more finished look and a much more durable chassis, but the … Read more
UPDATE 23/09:
Nope, I haven't forgotten about this, it's just been on the back burner! My original post mentioned that I'd ordered some IR sensors already. … Read more
I decided to do this Tamiya tankbot as a blog as there's been a few similar posts lately and It is probably one of the most common platforms about the net so I will see if I can do something different with it. But for starters I have built it like a start here robot although I will not call it that. At the moment it is controlled by a pic16F690 but I intend to build different configurations using other micros as well.
Hi LMRs again
I've started designing a new robot which will be semi-autonomous. I got a set of Tamiya 70100 tank treads. Quality is good for … Read more
Hey all
This is my first robot and its taken me quite a lot of research but google is my friend as i've never done anything like this before.

Im trying to run my start here bot that is has a tamiya twin gearbox and SRF05 instead of the IR sensor on it. All the components work, just not together. I wrote my code (most copied from frits) but my robot just goes forward and back, sometimes sideways about 2 centimetres. Can you post anything wrong in the code that may help to fix this problem
I've connected the L298N to one of the motors of the Tamiya Twin Gearbox as per the circuit diagram in the L298N data sheet. But when I set pin 10 and pin 12 to go forward or reverse, nothing happens. The voltage at pin 13 and pin 14 seems to be equal to each other regardless of what I set for pin 10 and pin 12 (with the enable pin on high). This is the Arduino code I have. The diodes I am using are IN4007. I've also tried it with the other H-Bridge and I get the same result.
my robot is using the picaxe18 power board from sparkfun.com. he turns both ways and decides which way is better to go and goes that way

I'm planning to build a UGV monster truck, based on a Tamiya Super Clodbuster. I've heard that it's a lot cheaper if you buy it in pieces. However, I ran into a bit of a dilemma. The stock monster truck comes with a speed controller. Do I need that too (I don't need any RC functions) or can a motor controller for Arduino or Basic Stamp do the job too. I already own a BS2 with BoE, but I would like to buy an Arduino because it's cheaper, open-source etc. Note: I'm still a beginner in robotics.
Now with cool video of a real life military prototype! This is an easy to make 6 wheel drive robot platform designed for rough terrain. The chassis is made from 3 … Read more
When I ordered my solarbotics track kit, I threw in a few of their "baby" GM motors thinking they would be fantastic for mini robots. When they arrived and it came … Read more
I built my gearbox in the wrong configuration, it was 3 months ago and I lost it... Does anyone have a JPEG a PDF or anything else of the plan for that gearbox ?

I`ve marked this robot as complete, because it`s in the process of being torn down for parts. It was fun and a good learning experience in electronics and … Read more
I had the best online experience with this store. The shipping was super fast (they shipped the very next day), the packaging was excellent and Mike at MR is extremely polite and prompt. Shipping is very reasonable.
It's parts are used for other robots, and I would have forgotten all about it, if not every now and then when I logged in, someone wrote to me; "Hey, that is a nice walkthrough, cool, helped me, inspired me" etc..
That is so NICE! It often makes my day, to get that kind of feedback without warning for a long forgotten thing I did.
And all I did at the time was to remember to film / take pictures.
This is a very nice little package. You have to assemble yourself, and there are 3 ways.
You want to assemble in "C"-mode, ratio 203:1
