Problems with axe 08m and l293n

Hi LMR!

I have a teeny problem - I'm playing with stepper motors for my next robot, the plan is to have an 18M2 sending serial packets to a pair of 08M2s which each will control one stepper, to save outputs on the 18.

My problem is this, when I have the 18 running into the L293 driver the motor runs perfectly, but when I use an 08 nothing happens and it gets hot (I fear the magic smoke)...

picaxe 08M and servo/servopos - frequency problems?

Is this true? I am a total newb on the 08M, so the manual is full of surprises to me.

It states: "The servo command will function correctly at 4MHz on all parts (except X2, which only function at 8 or 32MHz).  16MHz  is also supported on X1 parts. No other frequency will work correctly".

Does that mean that I will have to underclock my 08M from 8 MHz to 4 MHz in order to use the servo command?

08M motordriver and power supply board

After a few weeks of waiting, my PCBs have arrived. I just soldered the components on the first one and it works like a charm. I had to drill out the holes for the resistors a bit and then solder the resistors on both sides of the board to get a good connection, but hey: this was also my first shot at having a PCB made and it works. Next time I'll be more careful checking out the dimensions in diptrace.

The trigger senses light changes inside the birdbox and activates the camera
This is another of my camera projects, a light sensing trigger for my bird box. The system uses an LDR to sense changes of light inside the bird box. That occurs … Read more

Update 2011-07-10

I was asked to bring Blind Lemon along to appear with me on Make: Live this coming Wednesday. Poor BL had been sitting in a box, and was a bit worse for wear from my kids playing with him.

PICAXE-08M Zapped?

I have a PICAXE-08M that I belive is zapped. Not sure how I would have killed it but the program editor will no longer download code to it. When I check the firmware, it see's that it is an 08M, etc. 1) Can I confirm the death of this chip for sure? 2) Is it possible to ressurect the chip?

Worth mentioning, we can eliminate the USB, program, or circuit being the point of failure since my 14M works just fine.

Thanks in advance.
