move around. Look for obstacles... Just a test program for now.

update: new video added (sorry for the poor quality). attached a first draft of the head. It has a simple obstacle avoidance program.

This is my second robot. The first one was for practicing soldering using a picaxe 08M prototype board. It had two modified servos, a led, an infra-red eye and a switch. I couldn't get the speed control right using the servos so I figured I should use PWM. The other problem I ran into was the program size. The 256 bytes on the picaxe08M is just not enough.

My first Robot- basic drive system

What does it do?

This is my first project so far. I have got the basic forward system almost working, and was wondering if anybody had any tips/improvements? It runs straight and I have made the treads tighter to get more force from the wheels, and it turns fine.. got some pics, just done quickly from my phone.

This is my first robot with my own navigation after learning from "How to make your first robot" how everything works.

Don't mind the design of this cigar-box-robot. I put just something together for testing. Form follows function :-)

The next thing I'm trying after improving the existing navigation is that the robot is able to follow a light or my finger or something. I haven't a clue for now how I will do this, but I think somehow it will work.

Material are being gathered for my Yellow Drum Machine morph.I plan on making this with my 7 and 4 year old sons.Therefore the drumbot will need to take on a Wall-e look.The two ultra sonic eyes will work nicely with some strategic masking or holder.Not sure how the arms will work as drum stick yet…

Goes around avoiding obstacles

This is a simple tracked robot, based mostly on standard entry level components: picaxe, sharp sensors, l293d driver, tamiya motors. I'm mainly reusing them from my first robot, apart from the motors.

The chassis is made by two custom hand-sawed "plastic glass" sheet, distantiated by long screw. I used a lot of L-shaped components to secure the wheel axels and the sensor. The final structure is rock-solid.

Detect when too tilted

Hello! This is a tracked robot i did a couple of days ago. Unluckly, is suffered from a severe design fault so i disassembled yesterday :) I'm posting it the same becouse it's cool looking and my error could be useful for others.

So the problem was that the battery pack (which is the heaviest part) was too high off the ground and too back on the robot, almost at the end of it. This resultedin a severe unbalance, so that even with the smallest step the robot goes upside down :) So learn from my mistakes and design carefully where your weights will be!
