Are you ready for the next LMR robotics challenge?

After the success of my last game Cross the Gap. We had to give you guys another challenge of equal difficulty for you to rack your brains around. Its your chance to come up with creative solutions to win robot related prizes! This time we have asked a guest game official to be the judge of the event and to pick the game winners.

The Game:

This challenge is inspired by a local event, where kids are remote controlling robots through a maze like course to find a small Teddy bear, grab it (with velcro) … Read more

Wanted: Steampunkbots!

A guy I know is the organizer behind The International Steampunk City.  He's looking for  performers, artists, exhibits, etc. to include in this event that will span the entire city of Waltham, Massachusetts from May 6th - 8th.

He said that he'd love to do and create more events that people who are interested in math/science/robotics/nerdy geeky things would enjoy at the Steampunk City.

Idea for Challenge? (Much needed!) (saving the fishies!)

CaptainObvious's picture

I don't know what gave me the idea.. lol, I remember watching a video about this a while back.. but just remembered it today out of the blue.

Basically, it'd need to be small scaled for now, but maybe ideas for the future companies! (and/or countries!) But I can't believe it's seriously gotten to this point... a garbage patch bigger than the size of Texas, in the Pacific Ocean! They find fish and birds as well, their stomaches full of the plastic they ate. (I mean, FULL.. it's more plastic than meat inside of the fish!) But anyways..onto the "Idea":

Here are a map of parts in the Mr. Basic kit

Mr.Basic manual page 3
So far I've dicharded:
The wheels (13&14)
The bumper (17)
The battery holder (18)
The front axle shift metal fixer (20)

and I've mutilated/hacksawed/drilled:
an Axis joint device (5)
both Front axles(7)
The Chasis (11)
one Decelerated pinion chassis (12)

And I know some of the copper tubes (22&23&24) have a dark future ahead dating my trusted hacksaw.

LMR DAGU Contest rules anyone?

maneuver's picture

Oddbot mentioned in another post that some rules would/should be announced regarding the LMR DAGU Contest.

I thought the rules were vaguely outlined as something like:

1 Use the Mr.Basic kit.

2 make sure your robot is way cooler than the other contestants.

3 good luck.

-So, do we need any more rules? Do everybody have to use all the parts from the kit? Which partscannot me excluded? Is there an upper price limit?

Robot challenge $100 prize

maneuver's picture

Crabfu is inviting us all to a $100 challenge. Whoever makes the robot with the most "life".. He wants us to make robots that gives an illusion of character, like cute/bad-ass/mean/angry/cheerfull/nervous or something completly different.

Go ahead: impress, confuse, bedazzle and surprise the judges, and you could win $100 worth of stash from Trossen Robotics.

Most of us make robots, and most of us make robots that can somehow manage to move around on a flat surface. But.. Can you make a robot that can Drive, crawl, walk, … Read more
