Let's Make Robots!

Yellow Drum Machine

I first saw Frits’ Yellow Drum Machine featured in Make magazine a while back, and felt compelled to make one myself, starting with the how-to. So, here it is! … Read more

Jinnarin's third robot (YDM clone). (Updated: 9-1-11)

Hi all. I have been away for some time (health reasons), but I am finally back and starting on my third robot. You can see my first robot here and here, I never made a page for my second robot, as it was just a remake of the start here robot (maybe it will make a special appearance).

First Robot Project Choice?

Hey guys,

I've been reading up on robots and am very anxious to begin my first project, but I need advice.  You see, the "start here" robot does look pretty cool to me, but I've found that the "Yellow Drum Machine" (http://letsmakerobots.com/node/112) is far more appealing.  So my question is this: Would it be unwise to build the "Yellow Drum Machine" as my first robot?

Yellow Drum Machine gets kicked at Campus Party Europe

Hi.

I'm Michael, an innovator and concept making practitioner from Denmark.

I am about to launch myself into the world of robotics, and I am looking forward to blogging with you all.

In this video you can see how Frits kicks the Yellow Drum Machine at the Campus Party Europe 2010.

YDM for sale Make me an offer!

Hello Everyone,

I have a version of the YDM for sale.  It was first built by an engineer in Toronto and then shipped to Fritz to Denmark for completion. I originally wanted this YDM for my school robotic shows but it is too small for the student audience to see.

It works perfectly.  Although it does have one of its front drumming sticks bent due to shipping.

I will probably put on eBay if I don't receive any offers here.

Email me with any questions.

:)

Greetings from RoboDays 09

Hi everybody :)

I was invited to exhibit on the annual RoboDays, in Odense, Denmark this year

It was quite cool, because I got to meet so many of the youtube-famous robots (and their builders) out there. Some shown in the video, but of course I did not have time to go around and film a lot, having my own stand (and 500 kids wanting to touch stuff and drive cars into each other)..

Gear pager motor not enough power

Okay I am trying to hook up the gear pager motor to test it so I write the code as below:

main:

high portc 3

wait 1

low portc 3

wait 1

goto main

I used the lead to test it and it seem to work the lead turn on and off every second but when I try with the gear pager motor its does not have enough power to move the motor. well the motor move but very slow so its not able to make a sound when it hit something.gear.jpg

So it all needs to start somewhere - order has been placed for the various components just when will they arrive. When out buying concrete, sand and shingle tho i … Read more
Update: Solarbotics has made this kit, were you will get all the vital parts needed for this project, at the best total price available out there :) Welcome, funky … Read more

Yellow Drum Machine SING-ALONG-VERSION

Amazed over the popularity the Yellow Drum Machine has recieved, but with my mother-in-law on visit, and a baby on my other arm, it is hard to do a follow up quickly :)

So this is a first-and only shoot, showing the sing-along-possibilities of YDM. I *could* have sung something more inspiring, and I could have taken another shot, to wait for a more inspiring rythm etc - but this is what I can manage right now (my baby girl is sleeping on my shoulder, even writing this is hard :)
