Fundraising for the chicken

Hello everyone.

I didn't really want to post on here but Bas conviced me too, so if you don't like it here, blame Bas :)

I am currently running a fundraiser to purchase a new camera to record videos with.

Quoted from my site:

tamiya dual gear box voltage

i have a tamiya dual gear box.  and i dont really know what voltage i should run them at. some people say 3v others say 6v.

so i have come to you guys for help!

i want to know what voltage you guys run them at and if you have fried any motors?

the one i have looks like this https://www.sparkfun.com/products/319

i need to enalarge a hole in a plastic gear from 3mm to 9mm How can i do it?

Custom Gearbox

Hey all I have built a few small scale bots and am now working on a larger 200lb bot. I was wondering if anyone had constructed their own gearbox for a DC motor. If so how did you do it and what kind of gears did you use?

Thank you for any direction you can supply.

Miniature servo magnetic clutches

Miniature servos are great for robotics, they are small and cheap. Unfortunately they have very small plastic gears that strip easily so they always need replacing....  or do they?  Not any more!!!

Gears and gearboxes. What do you want for your robot?

Sometimes when your building a robot you will need gears. Although there are plenty of ready made gearboxes on the market they will not always fit your needs. I have been looking at puting together a collection of gears, shafts and even small bearings so that you can build you own gearboxs.

I started off with the green bevel gears shown below, they have big, strong, chunky teeth that are hard to break. These allow you to have a 90° output.

Gears in Sketchup

In robotics, you  usually want more torque or speed out of your motors.

Arduino tamiya twin motor gear power supply and stuff

Hello thereI am building a simple Arduino tank but the problem is that after running it for 20? seconds it starts to run slower and slower. Then after turning it off, and on it does not run anymore. After letting it stay off for almost 5 minutes, it runs really slow. Looks like the 9v battery can't handle it?

Acoustic Noise Reduction

So in another forum I explained how I was using power screwdriver motors to move my rocker bogie suspension system. So I was wondering if you guys had any ideas on how to dampen the acoustic noise(not the electrical noise) coming from these motors. They use planetary gearboxes which I know are notorious for being loud but I need the torque that they provide. I was planning on using some sound proofing material to dampen the sound but I was wondering if you had any ideas. I know it is kind of a weird topic but thanks for your help.

DC motors from DAGU

I'm putting together an order at DAGU. But I need to be sure about one thing. The DC motors (items 12 and 13 in the LMR price list), are they GEARED motors? I presumed they were, but then I mailed Claudia and I asked: "Item 13 (dc motor) in the list: Are these motors WITH gears?" and got this answer: "The DC motor will not come with gears". However I think she may have misunderstood my question cause they do look like geared motors....

Building plans for the tamiya tiwn motor gearbox

I built my gearbox in the wrong configuration, it was 3 months ago and I lost it... Does anyone have a JPEG a PDF or anything else of the plan for that gearbox ?

Motors

How do you choose motors for something like http://letsmakerobots.com/node/87 ?

I've bought two motors (no gearbox, just motors), hooked them up and expected it all to be a little bit "nervous". However, they can't move even that little thing, only can spin in the air.

So... what would you guys recommend? Could anybody just give a little explanation, like "Motors FAQ for dummies"?

Thanks!

GM10 motor strength

I've ordered th GM10 geared minimotor from solarbotics.

link: http://www.solarbotics.com/products/gm10/

I know some of you have used it before.

Mine haven't arrived yet, so I'm still dreaming about it.

Here's a quick question for those who know it;

How big a wheel can I connect directly to the output shaft on the GM10 without any significant loss of power. I see they ship it with an optional 25mm wheel, is that the biggest recommended diameter, or can I go bigger without gearing it down further?
