Let's Make Robots!

How to begin?

Hi there

I have found robotics interresting for some time now, and I have decided to give it a try. I have been making projects with an Arduino before, but never with sensors and motors (I have no idea how to program these). I have been looking at your "Start Here" page, and it looks really interresting. But because I have been making projects before, I think i will use an Arduino in my robots. So I got some questions, that I hope you guys will help me solve.

1: How is the easiest way to start with the Arduino?

Hello I have been scrounging junk again!  -lol   I'm still working on my Jansen walker project, but found this mechanical thingy (junk) at my job and was told … Read more

How do you connect a SRF005 to an Arduino MEGA 1280

I need help on connecting a srf005 (the blue one) to an Arduino MEGA 1280

You can use this image as a guide.

I want the connection for the srf005 using only three pins. :) (The one where you connect the mode pin to ground)

Thanks,

Here we have Boxxy, my SHR. I had originally intended to give it a nice plexi-glass chassis; however, I chose instead to use an old cellphone box. There's something … Read more

Rom-Bot

I dismantled a cd drive from my old laptop yesterday, and found out that the plastic frame and insides were a pretty good chassis for a robot. It will have an LCD screen, use an IR sensor for not running into walls, and possibly some odds and ends here and there. Does anyone have any suggestions for some of the features that would be integrated into this robot? I am using a Picaxe 28x1.

Line Follower using Atmega8

Hi all, I am new here and about to make a debut in robotics with a simple line follower robot.

I have chose AVR ATmega8 as my microcontroller because I found out that we can chose which pins we want as input and which ones as output. So this seems pretty cool for a microcontroller. Also i figured out that it is cheaply available here.

Getting ready

Hello everyone! :D

I'm new to the site and building robotsand got very inspired of all the robots on the site. :D

And it seems that making a simple bot is easier then i thought :O

After reading some of the tutorials here i decided to start making my own bot,so today i bought some tools that i needed.

Things like: Soldering iron (and a stand/holder), heatshrinking tubes, solderingtin and some wire. didn't find any jumpers tho :/

Picaxe18x vs Picaxe28x

Hello, I am new to this site and i have ordered parts for my first robot. But i am second guessing myself- Should I have gotten the expensive 28x like i did or gotten the 18x? As this is my first robot, I'm guessing it won't be to complicated. Thanks!! :)
