IR navigation beacons

There have been several previous blogs and forums on LMR concerning different methods of robot navigation and room recognition. I have decided to make some IR beacons for experimenting with.

My theory is that if each room has at least 3 beacons spaced around it then the robot can not only triangulate it's position within the room but also determine what angle it is facing. Each beacon sends out a different identification code. This allows the robot to know which room it is in.

Serial transmission and when to initialise it

Hello!

I am trying to figure out how to transmit data from one atmega to another one via IR. Oh btw i am using arduino language.

First thing i though of was setting the serial communication by using serial.begin in the setup function. I tried that and i noticed that the LED connected to the TX pin on the arduino lights up as soon as i give power to the atmega. This is not really what i wanted, cause i'd like to have the LED off when not in use.

Need help with my IR project

Hi everyone, I am new to this website, if I post it at the wrong place, please understand, sorry.

my problem here is I current working on a Infrared control car project as part of my school work, but somehow I could not get the Infrared reciver working.

Detail:

For the car control I used a picaxe 08M; For the car I used picaxe 18x with the infrared reciver (don't know the model, but this is what is behind the component '1B79 68A')

Super Brilliant Avoid Obstacle Strategies - Open Question

I have built a Bot with Arduino as MCU and wish to give it a life of its own.

Has anyone Created a "Super Brilliant" Strategy for avoiding obstacles ?.

So far my bot does this (rather On/Off control) :-

(1) When it detects an object Right it turns Left until the coast is clear and carries on with its original direction.

(2) When it detects an object Left it turns Right until coast is clear and carries on with its original direction.
