Content in “Arduino / AVR”

I Just got my arduino form the mail, plugged it in my computer followd the instruction given on Aruino.cc, i'm saldy "a Pc living with vista" to quote the apple Ad, and I cannot install driver manually, I plugged my arduino in my pc, a "new hardware found"popped, it searched the drivers automatically, "succesfully" installed them, then, nothing. I can't do anything.

Btw, yes the arduino program is installed.

Also, I have Ubuntu in dual boot but I'm pretty much new to it.

I have a Sharp GP2Y0A700K0F IR sensor that I want to connect to an Arduino decimilia. The data sheet says to use (3) wires for connection (pin 1 to ground, pin 2 to voltage, and pin 4 to analog pin) but the sensor has a 5-pin housing. Should I find a 5-pin female to connect with? or is there a better way to make the connection. Please help! I have been searching for how do this interface for a while with no success....my first robot. Thank you.

now that I got my pololu controller how do i use it with arduino? (as in coding)

Sweetness my pololu controller came,(Dang that thing is small :)

I just finnished my SAT test  (I am home schooled so that means no more school untill september!! :),

and I just  got a summer job, this week is so awesome !!!!! :P

 so here comes the hard part, coding :)

I need some help with driving dc motors with arduino. I have already looked at the arduino site and all I found was this http://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoShields and no guide or parts list.

I have gone thru all of the lessons here http://www.ladyada.net/learn/arduino/  and ithas been really fun so far but I WANT TO BUILD ROBOTS! NOT BLINKIE LIGHTS! :)

 

 

I just got my arduino diecimila today and I am trying to figure out what to do as my first project.

What do you guys think I should do?

I am a little tight on money untill this summer so my projects are sort of limited :(

I hope to learn alot!

Anyways, has anyone worked with AVR microchips before? I personally use Atmel’s ATMega 168. I find that the interpreter is a little hard to get working but it is really easy to work with after that. The chips are pretty cheap to.

I have also worked with RCK/NXT from Lego.

I hope to post my own project up here soon!
