why dont we see robots made with these? http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=8502

is there something bad about it having 1 transducer only? sparkfun does not carry the SRF05, so will this be a viable replacement?

IR transmission

Hi guys!

some years ago i found a site talking about laser tag and i really liked it. but since i play airsoft and i like realism much, i didn't like some aspects of this module (some unrealistic things that i wasn't quite fond of) but now that i am learning how to make bots and use PICs i thought: why can't i try to make a module of my own?

making a laser tag shooter involves of course using an IR emitter and receiver (since there's already a post on receivers i'll only ask about the transmission)

External Memory Reader

Oi all,

I was finally going to get my RFID chips (I hope... maybe) and I was thinking that I wanted a way to store a database for RFID tags and actions like a database storring the ID number and if they are level 1 allowance or level 2 allaowance, etc. that way I can not only select what I can allow the person to do in a situation, but I can also easilly add people from my computer or phone (if I use Micro SD).

Basically I want a way to read a txt file from the root of a data storage device - I'd prefer SD but Thumb drive is my next preference.

Oh, where did I go wrong? - Circuit Quiz (Mystery Solved!)

I built this circuit:
a TTL input on s0 is supposed to turn on Motor 1, and a TTL input on s1 is supposed to turn on Motor 2.
Why the heck does both motors go on when either S0 or S1 go to 5V?

It never ends to amuse me how many ways I can goof stuff up...

Who wants to buy an RFID IC that is actually well made?

Tgeahre's picture

Oi all it's Tgeahre, your friendly neighborhood RFID Proponent.

I have good news, I found my RFID reading IC and want help getting it. To start, if you didn't read it before, take a look at my component report in node 1417. For those of you excited about RFID, this report will please you.

At the end I have a wonderful little bit about how to purchase it.

Do it yourself PCB experience

My question is for all the people who have etched their own circuit boards (BOA, JIP, Fritsl?, Others?).
I would like to know:
1. how many times you have made your own circuit boards.
2. how long does it take. Is it faster than wire-wrap or "free-form" soldering?
3. how many boards have you made in a run?
4. have you ever tried commercial sites? how would you compare vs doing it all yourself?
5. what is the start-up costs?
6. what do you do with the spent chemicals?

Led (anode/cathode recognition)

CaptainTuna's picture

here's the led i bought..  the lenght of the two 'bars' (don't know their name in english) and the fact that the capsule is flat on  its right side make me believe the one on the left is the anode, but then i checked it inside...i haven't seen leds like this one but i haven't seen many of them (usually the widest part is linked to the cathode). so which one is the anode? (my guess is the left one)

Pololu dual motor controller + Tamiya 70168

TheOther1's picture

I bought a Tamiya 70168 twin gearbox and Tamiya wheels and hooked them up to my Pololu micro dual serial motor controller.  They don't even budge.  I hooked up GM-10 motors and they work as they should.  I changed motor power to 9v instead of 6v, motor 0 turned for a second and stopped.  Again the GM-10 motors ran fine.  If I apply power direct to Tamiya from b
