Do we want a LMR WhatsApp or WeChat group?

A while back I asked Frits what he would think about a WhatsApp or a WeChat group for LMR. 

Recent events about WhatsApp may change a lot but I guess that's a reasonable question if we want a 24/7 chat for LMR or not. The SB is ok for the use on a computer and the SB app is doing it's job as well but it's still not an optimal solution.

What I would like to read below is your opinion about that idea. Do we need a group and if yes, how we are going to do that?

I am in the planning stage of building a quadcopter, which will be my first ever flying robot. So excited!!!! I have a question for you all: how would I interface some sort of PC control to the machine?

Swarm Robot build

Hey LMRians!

It's been quite a long time that I haven't been here (mostly due to being in the second last year of school and other projects). Recentlly I got interested in robotics again and I came up with the idea of building swarm robots (just a little group of maybe 10 bots, not 40+ that the universities use).

Here I want to describe my thought process a little and then ask some questions.

So my first goal is to make it relatively small, something of the size like the robots seen in this excellent video by the University of Sheffield (see embedded video below).

Anyways, back to the robots,

So my current project is to create a virtual indentity that I can have a VERY simple conversation with. His name is Sergei, cause everyone needs an awesome Russian buddy. But I find myself being a bit stuck on one thing: Serial Communications

 

What Im really trying to better understand is how to make the Arduino respond to my serial input. 

Swarm Robots - Brainstorming (Football robots)

Communication port problem with ponyprog2000

Hi,

I am trying to program AtMega8 with pongprog 2000 in xP.

my system has a  parallel i/o port card and have installed a parallel port onto my computer as it was not previously available.

I am getting the problem "Communication port not available    

(-16)".When i go to interface setup +parallel+avr isp i/o all my LPT ports are disabled although when i check device manager it says PCI_LPT(LPT3) is installed and working properly!Please reply fast ....I am stuck here and its urgent )-:

I am doing the robo-project in the university. The main task is to build a robot using wireless technology that can be able to perform number of tasks that are sent from the PC.

My xmos project proposal included (rather, was refined to include) a communications library to make it easier for the robots to share map data.
