Update: I have got the sonar sensor working and scanning and added this to the data sent to the pc. I have also written a very basic obstacle avoidance program which basically involves the robot turning for a certain time whenever an obstacle is sensed. I am going to develop this program so that the sonar data is also used to make decisions on what way to turn. I would also like to send data from the pc to tell the robot which way to turn so that unexplored areas of the map can be explored. For now i have added a video of Crum producing a map utilising the sonar data as wel

This is igor, my first robot. His brains are a Make controller, a SAM7-based microcontroller which I gotta say was NOT the cheapest but for the most part is a joy to program. The chassis is an octobot chassis from budget robotics, with an extra deck which is not attached in the photo..

Anyway, I just put him mostly together tonight, and wrote a real quick app to test the IR rangefinders. I'm not really sure what his mission in life should be yet, but for now I'm just gonna try to make him able to roam around and avoid stuff.

roams avoiding objects detected by IR sensors

This is my first. It's nearly out of the book, but i tweaked the logic a bit for reacting to left, right or both sensors triggering

I made this years ago and i just pulled it out of the box today and it still works! Well, i had to re-aim the IR emitters and sensors. It freaked my dog out. :P

What does it do?

Hi Everyone, great site. Just created an account so i thought i'd share my robot with you. I originally designed this robot as a micromouse and i got it to navigate through a maze but decided to try and get it to do other things. I built a robot at university that was able to navigate and, by sending data to a pc, create a primitive map. It wasn't very accurate so im now trying to improve on this with my latest robot. This robot uses modified servos to drive.

What does it do?

Cut Grass

It is a RC lawn mower project that I just finished. I used it once t(here is a link to the video on my web site), and blew up the cutter motor. The one I bought apparently was to small. I used solidworks and cosmos to design it, once again there is info on my web site. I am working on getting a microprocessor so I can make her a real robot. I am also looking for a good cutter motor if any one has any suggestions. I would rather stay away from gas just becuase I want it to be fully electric. It currently has 2 wheel chair motors to drive it and a deep cycle SLA for power.

Requirements:

Robot can be placed in any position and place operator prefers before start
Robot must then spin around it´s own center at least 10 times before step 3. (so we know it is actually navigating on it´s own)
Now the robot should try to drive around each of the 4 legs of a chair, like the orange arrow

What does it do?

Drives around and navigates via ultra sound sensors mounted on a servo. Also shoots "laser" and make sounds :)
