Dagu Robotic Arm 6DoF - Bacuri02 Project

I recently received my Dagu Robotic Arm 6 DOF with Arexx control board 32 servos.

My original project is to use an Arduino Mega to control the arm and then make a wifi connection joystick control.

As I have not received my Arduino Mega board, I started tinkering in Arexx control board that I received along with the robotic arm. Along with the kit also came with a CD ROM which I believed the program to be installed on the computer to control the arm.

Wild Thumper 6WD & Encoders

Hi all!

I'm the owner of Wild Thumper 6WD without encoders. It's really hard to get WT 6WD with encoders or motors for that platform with encoders at the place I live in. So I have to solve this problem in different way. Could you help me with my questions?

1) In basic model of 6WD with encoders on which axis encoders are installed?

2) Does it make sense to put encoders on all six wheels?

GY-521 and motion in a straight line

Hello all

I have a few questions about using GY-521 MPU-6050 gyro. If you have experience - please, help. 

1) Different sources indicate different allowable voltage - 3.3V or 3.3 / 5V. Can I use it with my 5V Arduino?

2) Is GY-521 enought for motion in a straight line of such platforms as dagu 4wd/6wd wild thumper?

Few questions about Spider Controller (DAGU)

Hello all!

I'm newbie and I have few questions about Spider Controller (from DAGU).

1) When USB is plugged and the battery is plugged too - which source of power controller will be use for servos?

2) As i understand, If i use analog servos I should plug it to PWM-outputs. And digitall servo can be plugged to any output. Am i right?

3) Can't understand what is the role of ON/OFF switcher. It is for battery only?

Droid Planning

Firstly Thanks to Oddbot, Pome & the Dagu team for this amazing Robot.

Assembly time was about 16 hours, that included rebuilding the right wrist to get the servo in a position to be able to pour a liquid ;-)

Review: The Service Droid kit from Dagu

I have received my Service Droid kit along with the Rover 5 robot chassis on a Monday evening. Excited, I opened up the package to reveal 2 big boxes, one with the Rover 5 and the other with the actual SD kit. The base comes assembled, with a battery box, a screwdriver (with a magnetized Phillips end), an Allen key (hex wrench) and a little bag with silicone lubricant. The droid kit comes with lots of parts grouped in separate labeled bags for easier assembly. To do the assembly, I used a cutter, a plier and the screwdriver from the Rover 5 box.

Updated assembly manual for Service Droid owners

Another minor update. I've now included the instructions for adding the sensor wire to the servos. Note that this will void the servo warantee as we cannot guarantee the quality of your work. The instructions were included because if you do want to modify your servos you should do it before assembly begins.

Venus - public venue display robot

The Venus robot is a 125cm (4.1ft) robot designed for display at public venues. The base is an adaptation of my BigBot robot base and uses the T'REX robot controller combined with a 9inch Android Tablet for human interfacing using the touch screen.

Update: Final parts arrived for the Service Droid - shipping at the end of the week

First of all I want to apologise that this has taken so long. It is partly my fault that the kits have taken so long to be produced because I made some last minute improvements to increase the strength of the arms.

We have also had some delays waiting for parts to arrive. The latest being that the laser cut factory missed one part. These parts arrived today. The parts cannot be packed tomorrow because we have another order that must be finished first so packing won't begin until Wednesday.

Speech Recognition - Robot Thinking and Understanding

Programming a robot to do a single specific task such as following a line is hard enough for most people. So how do we program a robot so it can perform many different task? How do we command / control it?

Recently I have been wanting to use the speech and voice recognition of an Android mobile phone. My friend Bing wrote a simple app for me that allows my controller to connect to an Android phone via Bluetooth and then send the phone a list of words that I want the robot to recognize. For example: "OddJob,go,forward,backward,turn,stop"

I'm getting the service droid with a Rover 5 (4 motors/encoders), 4 channel motor controller and Dagu Red Back Spider.

Getting Started with the 4WD Wild Thumper


This is my first post here.  I'm sorry if these are very basic questions.

Wild Thumper Responds Briefly to RC, then stops

[apologies, I was sure I posted this but cannot find any evidence of this post on the website. Please ignore if it is a dup]

I have a Wild Thumper on a standard Dagu chassis using the sample firmware.  Flysky 3-channel RC transmitter, hooked up to D0, D1.

7.2V nicad charged up and attached.  Demonstrated that the motors are driven using the diagnostic Arduino Wild Thumper code.

With the RC, I can get the motors to move in the right direction (power, steering) for maybe a 1/2 second then it stops dead.

This suggests something about the current sensing.

Service Droid V3.0

I was talking to a friend last night and he pointed out the Service Droid would be better on the Rover 5 Chassis. This is what I have so far.

The Service Droid is a cheap robot body with a reasonable amount of functionality. The idea is that you can fit it with whatever sensors and processor you want.

[ARDUINO] Spider dagu burn

hello everyone. 

I recently acquired a Dagu Spider malheureusment but I have a little problem that I would like to expose you BEFORE testing it myself. Because Dagu has cost quite expensive for my small ways! And my first test has not been very conclusive. So i have questions :

I'm using :

- 3 servos connected (D13, D12, D11). 2 Tower Pro MG995 and 1 Micro Servo 9g.

- 6 alkaline batteries 1.5 V LR6 - AA


.... the board heating  and no LED lights. Is this normal?

.... Am i using a bad batteries ?

New Dagu Rover 5 w/4 Motors, Encoders


I just received my Dagu Rover 5 along with a Redboard controller (Sparkfun arduino) and Rover 5 Motor Controller, all from Sparkfun Electronics. I'm not looking to take over the world with an army of autonomous AI miracle machines, just start a fun hobby with my kids. We have just unboxed the stuff and haven't began any assembly.

I recently purchased a Wild Thumper Controller for my Wild Thumper . I tried to modify the controller software to use a LiPO battery and to test my ability to compile the code. Unfortunately I ran into several problems. The Fist was:

Working for DAGU means I need to try and design products that are not just cool to look at or play with but are also affordable and easy to use for the beginer. Sadly this balance is not easy to acheive. Usually more fun / cool functions means more complexity and cost.

Reverse pendulam using Rpi,Arduino and additional 0.75kg - which rover 5 chassis to buy



i am trying to built a autonomous car ( which can also be controlled by wifi) using DAGU rover-5 chasis , dagu 4 channel motor driver , raspberry pi (for wifi and camera) and arduino uno. i also like to use the same platform for inverted pendulam project using MPU6050 which is my next stage target , so the car needs to be very swift or agile to maintain the balance and change the direction.

can Dual H bridge 2A motor driver work with DAGU Rover5 chasis (2.5 stall current)


i was planning to Buy "Rover 5" 2 Dc motor , 2 encoder chassis from hobbyking with other accessories. however as a motor driver i found - "H-Bridge Motor Driver" which provides output to 2 motor but max current is 2A. whereas stall current for the motor is 2.5A. can i run the rover 5 without burning the motor driver?
