Where do you buy your electronic components?

Markamas's picture

In the past, I didn't need electronic components because I thought it was too complicated. Now that I've learned more, I want to buy some ecomponents to start building/hacking circuits. Where should I buy electronic components? Where do you buy yours?

Small stepper motors

XicoMBD's picture

Hello LMR,

I need to get two motors which I can control precisely, like in a CNC.

I've been looking for small stepper motors and found these, which Pololu sells:

http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1204

They seem to be good but I'm not sure about their speed (I've read somewhere that the are low speed and I would prefer fast motors).

Robotshop Review

Is RobotShop a good place to buy parts from? I've heard they pissed fritsl off... Is it worth to buy things there? Are there any better online shops?

Canadian Stores

Gonzik's picture

Hello guys. I live in Canada and wanted to ask if any of you know good suppliers of robot parts in Canada. This includes electronics, hardware, discrete components, motors, sensors, breakout boards ect. Basically anything that would be useful in building robots. I like to support local companies and want to save on shipping costs/waiting times. The majority of things I order ship from the US, China or Hong Kong. Please don't give me big companies like Digikey, RobotShop ect. that have offices everywhere.

Tayda?

rik's picture

Hi,

Anyone have experience (good or bad) with Tayda electronics? Please share.

I just googled this one part and Tayda came up as the absolute winner on price. Who would like to teach me how to order small quantities from suppliers far far away. Any caveats, consumer traps, unusual conditions, broken promises?

real shops in London

maneuver's picture

Does anybody know of any interesting robot parts shop in London town, UK?

I'm on my way there tomorrow on a business trip, and have time to kill.

I'd love to go into a shop and touch and feel stuff before I buy...

A good place to buy stuff in the UK

Ajster's picture

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to buy parts etc. in the UK. Obviously there is the picaxe store for the parts available on there. I was searching for stuff and it seems to fairly cheap and most parts are available form rapidonline.com but they don't sell stuff that is more robot specific and less general electrics.

Where do you guys get stuff from in the UK, or any UK store that you may use from abroad?

Where to buy Picaxe?

fritsl's picture

There seam to be an echo of "where do I buy Picaxe", especially from newbees from the US.

Well - let´s make some web-shops happy out there, I entered picaxe.co.uk (http://www.rev-ed.co.uk/picaxe/), looked under "distributors" and found this most likely not too recently updated list:
