1st Stage - Robot Platform

This is my first robot. I use arduino Decimila for the brain and Tamiya twin motor gearbox. Sensor is Sharp IR connected to a servo. At this moment it is an obstacle avoidance robot.The robot will be use as a base for the later stage of my work. Already i have some problem with the robot. It seem that arduino seem to go crazy when i use battery to power it. I dont know what the prolem is. I am thinking maybe because i am using only a single 9v battery to power both the arduino and the motor.

What does it do?

Goes around avoiding obstacles

This is a simple tracked robot, based mostly on standard entry level components: picaxe, sharp sensors, l293d driver, tamiya motors. I'm mainly reusing them from my first robot, apart from the motors.

The chassis is made by two custom hand-sawed "plastic glass" sheet, distantiated by long screw. I used a lot of L-shaped components to secure the wheel axels and the sensor. The final structure is rock-solid.

Here's the photo of my first original bot - HairyBot 1, so called due to the abundance of wires from this breadboard on wheels. It's a pretty simple setup, made up of the following principle parts:

My first robot - Ziltoid the omniscient

Ok, This is my first go at it. I will post more pics and some video as well.
Yes I did name him Ziltoid based on a Devin Townsend project. This is the first incarnation of Ziltoid here, I will work on a second one, probably just modify this one with speakers and sound. Ok, I had a little fun with the 2nd video. It does not explain anything, but it was fun to play with. Enjoy!
