What does it do?

Navigates around via ultrasound

This is my bot, Godzilla. No, it is not huge and it does not pick up buses and throw them back down. I just called him Godzilla because i love the song by Blue Oyster Cult!
Anyways, back to the bot: It does not do much now since i haven't mounted my 180 servo yet, the one you see in the pictures is just a continuous one i have used to give myself and you an idea of how it is gonna be. It goes aroung with its ultrasonic sensor avoiding objects it finds on its way.

Rebel II

What does it do?

Navigate around via ultrasound / Remote controlled / Line follower / Sumo bot

This is the second robot that I've ever build. The first robot was Rebel. But this robot had some limitations and shortcomings. The things it missed are among other things, a real third wheel (now it was just a plastic cap that dragged over the floor), on/off buttons (every time I want to put it on I have to connect the batteries, remote controlling (I'd really like to know if I can make it remote control with a PCB from an old RC car I had lying around). First I started to design my new robot in a CAD program. I then cutted the pieces I needed from wood.

I just bought a Ping sensor in radioshack for my arduino thats coming and when i got home i got a box from my uncle... He used to work for northwest airlines fixing computers and engines and has taught me alot so he sent me some of his aircraft electronics.. It included some metal transistors of all types, glass diodes, high precision resistors from vishay with tolerance from .001% and disk caps, photocells, mylar caps (i think), and caps i have never seen before. They say 30uf and -10v... never seen negative caps before...

What does it do?

Line following, Driving around free with obstacle avoidance

This is a first attempt at building a robot. For now it is able to follow a line, and to drive around free with obstacle avoidance. In the near future I will program it to follow someone/thing, and in the far future I will try to let it solve a maze. ie. find it's predefined goal in a maze. The programming bit wasn't the hardest for me as I am studying Computer Science. It was the electronics that I really had to dive into. But in the end that was also not the hardest. I really enjoyed building my first robot and I think many will follow.
